If your bike is and 89 it will have clip on handle bars not standard bars. After 89 they came with standard bars only except in europe.
my bike was built 10/89 but is licensed as a 90'. - jim :)
well i wish i had clip ons but dont
all i know is the vin plate says 89 but stickers say 1990 when it comes to the standards listing under the seat on rear fender thing
More than likely it was built late in 89 and considered a 90 model.
Do the 2 numbers come up to 16 digits? I believe that Suzuki used the same VIN plate on several bikes and thus the first half of the VIN identifying it as a suzuki of that year would have been on all the plates and printed while the last half would have been stamped as it's specific to the exact vehicle.
8 spaces in from the last digit of the VIN should be a letter. The letter is a code for the model year of the bike.
