I told the SV not to molest the GS in my absence:

It's going to be another interesting summer. :)
The GS isn't going anywhere. I love it too much. :thumb:
DUDE!!! Congrats!!! I know you've been wanting one for a while. Looks like a a pretty clean bike what's the story on it??
Congrats on the new bike! Looks awesome, I'm jealous :icon_mrgreen:
niiice. now put some mirrors on it.
Your bike looks an awful lot like this one...

lol geep that looks like a section of town i used to live in, in IL, prolly not, but looks DAMN close to it
That bike looks like a croutching panther ready to pounce on children and small adults. I been wanting a new SV650SF in blue. :thumb:
Bucks found it. lol!
That SV has a little bit of history, see this thread:

I was talking with Nate and mentioned GStwins. The first words out of his mouth were "Do you know Onlypastrana199?" I said "Nooo! Can't be, can it?" It went downhill from there. :icon_mrgreen:
Suffice it to say, we know a lot of the same people and must have talked for an hour and a half. We finally had to break it up or he'd be late for work.
Just goes to show, it's a small world after all.
Nate was very sad to see his bike go, but the SV has a good home with the GS. This GS isn't going anywhere, but will eventually be turned into a track bike. :thumb:
I was reading about the bike in the for sale ad. Does it still have the problems he was talking about? Something about bad cam chain tensioners....
What kind of Buell are those headlights off of?
xb12? perhaps
Not sure what the problem is yet, I haven't had the time to fiddle with it. About all I did was fill up the tank and confirm that it won't start.
I'm supposed to ride with an EX250 guy today as he wants to get out but has a learner's permit. I told him that was fine, but we'd be stopping by my unit to play with the SV too. He's already asked to ride it.
I'll see if I can get a part number off the headlights.
Aww hell, it's nothing you can't fix :thumb:
Nice :thumb:
I always thought my headlights would look good on an SV :icon_mrgreen:
I'm making a rare appearance to say congrats GeeP. This bike is near and dear to my heart and it makes me happy that someone I know and trust has her. You've got a lil piece of Rich with you. Enjoy her and I hope you get her running soon!
Nice SV, :thumb: more picts? I like the buell headlights.
Tony
Looks great congrats :thumb: :thumb: as for the mirrors maybe bar ends would be sweet too.. O0

Thanks Lissa, she's in good hands.
We'll have to meet up again once I get her running, as long as you let me buy lunch this time! I'm going to make a few changes to make her more comfortable for me, but overall I think I'm going to leave things as-is. I like the German street fighter look, especially after the stares I got trailering it back from Binghamton.
I should have her running shortly, I think. I'm pretty positive I'm dealing with a fuel delivery or sensor problem now, I'll know more after I fiddle tonight. I'm looking forward to this summer, just like when I first got my GS. :)

Not sure what kind of mirrors I'm going to put on yet, probably something similar to what is on my GS. I'm not too much into bar end mirrors, but I may warm up to the idea.
She's ALIVE!
She sounds like... Sex.
But without all the maintenance of a Ducati. (Yeah Terry, bite me.) :icon_razz:
I started My New (to me) Sv650 2day , Its a E marked can and it sounds like a V twin monster , i think ill put a lil stubby can on the old girl :thumb:
Yeah, but my valves always sound like they're about to explode :flipoff: and they only have to be serviced every other $50 do-it-yourself oil change :flipoff: :icon_rolleyes:
My baby Duc may be a maintenance hog but she's mine and I love her, especially when all the little squids on Gixxers drool over her........until all the Harley guys push em out of the way to compliment me on having a crotch rocket that doesn't sound like a turbo'ed honda accord.

Its gotta be nice being loved by everybody.
ya, but $40 for a gallon of oil is insane! Let's not even get started on what little things like timing belts and brake light switches cost

WHAT!?!?!? Dear god!
Timing BELTS?
Ja, I like my zook. :)
Ja, and tensioners on both belts that are impossible to get to the right tension so you end up keeping em a little looser than spec because you've heard horror stories about too-tight belts breaking and engines blowing up. Ohhhhh, and don't forget the tension has to be measured on each cylinder at TDC and while they give you positioning marks for changing the belts they don't give you marks for TDC to tension them :icon_rolleyes:
It really is a High Class Sorta Girl , Wayyy to much Mantaniance and money for the Pleasure :kiss3:
Man Terry, I hope the sex is really good!
It better be! Can you say high maintenance?
The sound is enough to make a grown man cry, it really is a mean sounding bike. And seriously, what other company offers an 'entry level' bike with Brembo calipers, rotors, master cylinders and wheels?? MV Agusta??? yeah those don't require shaZam!-tons of maintenance :icon_rolleyes:
lol Just yanking your chain. :)
The shortened holeshot on my SV is wickedly loud too. It was rattling the walls of my storage unit, the units to either side, and giving me an earache. Nothing like the sound of a twin. 8) :icon_mrgreen:
 Yeah, nothing quite like a twin with a mean exhaust.

So I take it you got it running?
Well, I can't say purring like a kitten, more like thumping like a... NEVERMIND! But yeah, it's running. It has a nice, slightly lumpy idle, very Ducatiesque. Definately a sign of character. :thumb:
I'll try to take a video tonight. :icon_mrgreen:

That would be much appreciated! I would love to hear how that shorty can sounds.
Not to hijack the thread but I heard a Monster go by the other day (usually I'm in a car with the windows up or have a helmet on or they are parked) and was with my hubby and pointed and said "Oh hey look! ... WHAT IS THAT NOISE???!!! The infamous dry clutch was the response. But I could get used to it!
I love the trellis frame on both the Ducs and the SVs. 8)
damn you, now youll get terry started again
Excellent choice for a new-to-you bike, and that one's sex on wheels!
So...where's the audio...where's the vid!? :icon_mrgreen:
if the SV is such a good bike how, come i hardly ever see em around on the street? i've only seen one in the past couple of years. and it was an sv1000 :dunno_white:
terry why $40 for a gallon of oil, pr perhaps where is it purchased from. oil is oil. its been proven many times over

Sheesh lady, I'm working on it! Peoples around here got jobs, and lives ya know?
Actually, I still have a sensor or fuel pressure problem. I'm waiting for the new gauge cluster to arrive so I can read the computer codes. It runs right now, but it's blubberingly rich. Once I get it dialed in I'll upload a vid. :)

That's factory direct from AMSoil. 20w50 high performance. Oil is oil until you're talking about a bike that requires as much regular servicing as a Ferrari. It's just buying peace of mind when you look at it but I'm willing to pay a little extra to not worry.
rgr, gotcha, lol speaking of ferraris, im contemplating getting one. NO not one of those youve seen, ( and ive seen as well) but a magnum pi style 308, but even those require boo-koo fundage to keep in tip-top shape, heh i still like working on ducs tho. ( having that certification in my pocket helps me sometimes lol
Don't you DARE turn my SV thread into an oil debate. :icon_rolleyes:

About why ya' never see 'em? :dunno_white: I dunno... I see 'em all over. In fact, there an all-SV ride happening here in the next month or so (last year's ride brought out about a dozen SV's). :icon_mrgreen:
heya sexy, wanna talk about lube? :kiss3: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_twisted:
GeeP, that's a great looking SV. Just happens to be the exact thing I'm looking for when I'm ready for another bike. Keep me in mind if you decide to sell :icon_mrgreen:
