Title: WTB Project bike, gs or sv650
Post by: lnb001 on April 02, 2008, 07:56:01 AM
Hey since I had so much fun modding my '04 I want a project for summer so I'm looking for a cheap GS or more preferably an SV650 or maybe even a Honda CB500 if i could find one.  If anyone has any sources of where to find these bikes cheap of if you know someone who is selling or are selling yourself let me know.  My budget for the bike itself would be around $1000.  Thanks.

Home is in Fairfax, VA just outside D.C.  but I go to school in Bridgewater, VA which is about 2 hours from Roanoke.

You may want to check locally to see if you have any dealers specializing in reposed/salvaged bikes. I have one near me in Cincinnati, Ohio. I was thinking about doing the same thing you are, they have a 2000 sv650 for $1500. Pic shows bent forks, which could mean all kinds of other damage you can't see. You just have to be very cautious when buying a bike with a salvage title. So I would see if you have any dealers like that and check the sv boards for bikes. I know geep just bought a really nice sv over there with engine problems.
