Title: Getting stuck reinstalling my carb.
Post by: Ski1215 on April 06, 2008, 03:09:53 PM
I'm working on my 89 right now, trying to get it back together. Theres no real hurry but I'd love to go for a ride tonight. Anyways. I rebuilt my carb and I'm having trouble putting it all back together. I can't seem to get the airbox to mate up to the carb properly and get the carb inlets to create a good seal with the airbox outlets. I've tried just about every angle and it will not match up. When I tried attatching the carb to the airbox to install it all as one peice, my carb outlets wont match up! Is there some kind of trick to re-installing the airbox and matching everything up properly?

Have you tried some lubrication?  Maybe WD-40.

I did use some lubricant. Airbox and carb are now on, but now the carb doesn't want to sit all the way in the inlets.

I had the same problem with mine.  I heated the boots on the airbox with a heatgun, and they slid right on no problem.  if you don't have a heatgun, a hairdryer MAY work

I am not sure what exactly you are finding the problem with, but I myself faced problems putting back the airbox. It helped to take the air filter out and insert your hands inside the airbox to help the boots get over the carbs.
