Since I had the wheel off to put on my GSXR rim I decided to do the shock at the same time. I got one of the new style ones with the attached reseviour not the hose one. Well the F*^*&6ing thing dont fit. The coil is too big and its too long. The coil hits the swingarm pivot in the front and touches the swingarm in the rear. The shock would need to be more vertical to fit right. Also its very long fully extended dunno if it would be a problem with it bottoming out since if I get on it it goes down a lot to get past the coil rub.
I am gonna take it off unless someone can tell me what I did wrong. I thought there were people with them on the bike no problem.
Time to search for a Katana one.
I think I read somewhere someone had installed one. Had to remove the airbox and go with Uni pods, also had to drill new holes in bottom clevis higher up and cut away the bottom 1" or more of the clevis to make it fit...and it was still pushing the tail up pretty high...It has been done but seems like it wasnt the cleanest approach, from what I recall.
I thought it was black snowmand that said that it worked fine with some grinding on the lower mount and pods to clear the airbox. I got the pods and I did the grinding to the lower portion. There isnt really a way to move the hole up any higher than it is that I could see unless I ground the lower mount to almost nothing so it rotated.
I well I am bidding on a Katana shock, anyone want a GSXR shock that needs more modding that I want to mess with?
that shock you have fits the sv650. try selling it on svriders.com or socalsvriders.com
