Maybe when you get done you could do a nice step by step write up. I've been interested in doing this for awhile now too.

If u can weld ., then its easy , i can take pics of my 01 frame with nothing on , next to my 1996 frame , so u can see where the mounts are ment to be

OK one small question ...
WHY ???
The newer tail leaves parts of your electrics open, and it hits the ground - hard when you drop the bike.
Anyway, you'd need the tail light and seat too. And yea, the seat lock is in the shittiest place possible, in a 1 inch hole in the plastic. WTF ...
Cool.

Yeah, I like the older style MUCH better!

It is about looks and personal taste. The newer has sportier lines. If you hit the electrics when going down... you have much bigger problems to deal with.

I Much prefer the new lines, hence why i got a 2001 over my 1996 , i liked the 1996 frame better , but the fairing looks good on the 01+ tail

Another thing... the seat lock and cable are different as well. The latch is the same though.

I didn't say the electrics hit the ground, the plastic does. The electrics are exposed when you slap a 01+ tail on a 89-00. 01+ electrics are covered up better by the tail.

Yea looks, yep, vanity ... same freaking reason women get cartoon boobs made out of concrete to get men to like them.
I can take the 01+ with the stock tail ... In fact I'd even buy an 01+ ... BTW suzuki did it to get the bikes looking like GSXR baby brother types. I can even understand that. I just hate the extra pain from fitting the 01+ on the 89-00 ... I even understand the tank and front fairing part, better drag and larger tank, just dont drop it.
Cool.

I know it a different way... but the meaning is the same.
