i was riding down the highway at 60mph (5k rpm) for about 20 minutes and the GS just cut out on me. I coast to the side of the road thinking oh it must be gas.
but none of my lights are working!!!!!!!!!!
I just got towed home and now i cant fix it!!!!
When i turn the ignition on, nothing at all happens, no headlights, no tail lights, no starter, nothing!
so it must be the fuse right? NO! the fuse is fine but i replace it anyway. NOTHING!
so maybe the battery: nope! 12.8 volts.
maybe the ground: nope it reads 12.8v from the engine head and frame to the positive post.
I checked all the wiring and everything seems fine.
yesterday i replaced the stator but i dont see how this could have caused a problem

So what could this be!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!

Did you replace the right fuse? (i.e. the one under the cover, not the exposed spare). This post from Kerry might help:

The "active" fuse is under the red cover marked FUSE 20A.  The dark yellow spare fuse is pushed into the rubber "retainer" on the right end of the same (starter relay) assembly.

Sounds suspicious... major electrical modification yesterday, major electrical failure today.  :dunno_white:  I'd give this a second look to make sure there were no installation issues.

tehe yes i replaced the right fuse  ;)
but i noticed both the spare and the main one were 30 A, is that a problem?

I dont think the stator would affect anything except charging, the bike ran with the stator unhooked before

Bike will run with stator unhooked for ~15 mins if your battery is fully charged and you dont stall it.
Now you sure you routed the stator wires where it wont get chopped up by the chain ???

Easy - remove headlight and there is a green 4 pin plug. The on position if memory server is a connection of all 4. Use 4 spade connectors and wires and twist it all together.

right, the manual says red-orange and green-brown connect when switch is on, should i just connect these togetther and hoope for the best?

well ill be damned.
it was my ignition switch.
what would cause that to randomly go out at highway speeds?
how do i fix it?

when i bypassed it, i used 12 guage wire and all the wires got pretty hot, should i just use thicker wire?

well, i hotwired it! and its alive!

but now there is more problems!!!!

12 gauge ... you using multi strand or single ... anyway, warm is OK, and you planning to fix it ... not just hot wire it right ??? then hot is fine, just open and clean your lock's lower 1/2. bad springs and bad contacts are my guess.

You dont.........you have buy a new one.

Have you tried seperating & cleaning your electrical connector blocks with WD40 as you may have a bad connection due to some corrosion or other. It can happen !

I open the buggers all the time. Suzuki ones have 2 screws on the under side and they sort of clip and slide on types. Inside it, it will have 2-3 C shaped copper things and a spring under each of them. You can access that part by removing the clipped on snaps - very very careful here, you break it, its toast.
Its delicate and small sheite ... but doable. re assemble the same way. Then test it before fitting on the bike.
