Title: one problem fixed, another arises. help oil leak!!
Post by: JeremyP on April 08, 2008, 04:59:36 PM

arrgh!!
well i replaced the stator and now the charging system is fine. but now i have an oil leak!!

i replaced the gasket on the left side cover and there was a slight trickling stream coming from one of the bolts so i tightened it and the bolt snapped

now i have an oil leak and a broken bolt!

i know you will shun me for asking this but is there any gasket sealer stuff i can slap on the outside to stop the leak?

what are my options!

thanks!

If it was my bike I'd get a new bolt, even though it's a PITA.   ;)

sealing leaks from the outside just doesn't work, sorry.

pull it apart, pull/twist/drill/tap/whatever the broken bolt out, and find out why it leaked. maybe the wrong bolt in the right hole ?

cross threading and wrong threading will break a bolt quicker than snot !
