Love my bike, but craving a little bit more. I'm in Cincinnati.
Good luck :icon_mrgreen:
good luck finding a comparibly priced gsx-r 600 that has a motor.
sorry, but economics means you won't find a trade worth having.
You're gonna need to throw some cash in. Even a pretty beat up SRAD gixxer is going to fetch 3k.
Not a trade, but the cheapest gsxr in cincy I could find.

Look at the LEGS on that ride! BOW FRIKKEN WOW WOW! :o
Oh, wait... There's a bike in that first photo? Ohhhhhhh.....
Amazing, isn't it? Rebuilt salvage title, motor is crispy, crashed recently, and the guy still wants $2,200!!!
I'll give him 1k tops.............
I'd give him an xr50 for a trade...straight up. :dunno_white:
I'll take the girl!!! :)
I know I'll probably have to throw in some cash also, but just trying to find someone interested in downsizing. That will make the exchange a little easier.

I've seen a few guys who had sv's for trade. One guy wanted a gs and the other one I saw, one of the possible trade candidates was an ex250. So I'm sure he would have loved a gs.
Thats a possibility also.
Edit: Want to trade for 600cc or higher.
I'm on craigslist daily, I'll keep an eye peeled for you. :thumb:
F for a GSXR you may manage it ... especially the 92-93's, same weight as the 1100 and lot less power :cookoo:.
Pristine F's are $ 2.5-3.5K street value right. Yea not so good 96+ GSXR's go for that as do kats and what not.
Older and less than pristine shape - yes. BTW I sold my seca in very good shape, but not quite pristine for $1600 last month in TX. That is down right in E territory.
Cool.
Buddha.
Also bikes on the used market sell for what their "street" value is. That is 85-87 why rebel 250's sell for $1500 and 85-87 KZ550 or GS550/650 etc etc sell for $500 in similar shape.
Never mind that rebels were much much cheaper than the GS or KZ's ... the 80's KZ and GS are too slow for advanced riders, too ugly for the vanity riders, too high for the short beginner riders and too heavy for the tall beginner riders and too rattly for the non mechanically inclined. Pile up enough of these and you have a bike without a market.
I like to look at it in reverse ... a bike with "redemming qualities" is what I buy. If not, I dont unless it was very very cheap for its shape.
I have never owned a GS or a KZ 4 cyl (550/650 types) from the 80's, I have however owned several nighthawks - shaft drive and hydraulic valves, Maxim's - also shaft drive and a real cruiser not a hacked up standard and KZ 2 cyl's light and narrow and very good on gas and belt drive.
I also have owned eliminators I-4 in 900 and 100 variety, maxim 1100 also I 4(Both are 80's muscle cruiser) but will never buy a 80's magna, madura or V max (all V 4's). I may buy a 94+ magna or the suppa magna if one in good shape came up near me ... but see, no eli's were made after 87 in the larger sizes.
Like I said, compared to its competetion, its gotta have some redemming qualities.
Cool.
Buddha.
No redeeming quality in a VMax? OK :) I love the look of the 85ish GS. Was a beautiful GS550L non runner for short change by me recently. Just not enough to buy a $500 bike that needs $1k of work to be worth $700. One day an immaculate one will come my way......
Good luck on the upgrade to a 600. More likely to find someone with an abused 1100 IMHO. Older ones go for under $3k all the time. In need of something of course.
Thanks, for the info guys.
Buck, I'm always on craigslist too. You have to let me know when you pickup your bike from Columbus. Until then keep your eyes peeled for my yellow GS with yellow Icon leather jacket and yellow HJC helmet in Clifton!

Wreckhog - dude, I was just comparing it to an eliminator. Vmax makes more power and is lighter than the madura or magna, I'd take a vmax anyday over the other 2. Just that the eli is my fave in the 80's muscle cruiser category.
OK and the 85 GS550 - you may love the looks of it, but you'd be the very very very small minority. Its worth 700, but in the same shape try what a honda rebel 250 costs. That is market value for you. Dont get me wrong, I like em too, just that in that era and category Honda and yamaha made better bikes with more market appeal. What finally will work, lower price, ergo, Radians sell for 1.5 to 2X what a GS650 suzuki sells for.
BTW same argument can be made for the EX over the GS (more power, 1/2 fairing, blah blah) and ironically, the GS over the EX (better looks, full faiirng on the F's, better handling etc etc) too.
Cool.
Buddha.
BTW some things are worthless (or worth a lot less) just with passage of time. Like ... yesterday's newspaper. That you will read cartoons from it is a secret only you know. and as long as the rest of the world doesn't know that it will continue to be worthless.
Cool.
Buddha.

I'm not sure if I'll get my bike down here by the end of spring quarter, I'm doing a lot of stuff to it. Definitely once school starts next year though. Hopefully we'll have a house or apartment lined up by then. I can keep it here all year.
Take a ride down Calhoun street, and as you pass UC rev it up for me. I'll likely be sitting at my window listening to bikes ride by, as I always do, waiting for summer...
I'll do that Buck. Hey Buddah, let's not make this into a threadjacking! This is supposed to be a simple advertisement for my bike trade. I just saw you are a mod, I'll have to report you to yourself :icon_mrgreen:
OK OK I'll shut up ...
I was just supporting some of your points ... Overall, trading a smaller bike for a bigger bike may be a bad deal ... or OK or good ... big may be bad, and small may be better ...
Cool.
Buddha.
I was reading about Suzuki's Power Selector on the new GSXRs. It seems like it might make my transition to a superbike slight;y easier. SLIGHTLY being the key word before anyone jumps my sh$%t.
shoot for a 750
Importbabe... post edit???? Did you have something else on your mind?
Along the lines of what you are looking for?
Not too hard to sell a newish GS500 for $1700........

Of course you can't give GSXR1100's away.
Golf cart.....lol

Funny! I can't afford the insurance on anything more than a 600. Speeding tickets can be a Buddha Loves You.
