Title: Choke cable too short
Post by: BrianKD on April 11, 2008, 06:14:56 PM
I ordered a choke cable for an 2004 to put on a 1998. It seems to short to fit. It's as if I need one more centimeter to get it onto the carb grove.

Is the choke cable a different length between a 98 and an 04 model?

Is there a correct way to put the choke cable on that gives you the necessary slack to pull the sheath into place?

When I install the choke cable first on the handlebar control, the spring on the carb end already looks compressed.

(a MB search revealed this thread: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=18925.0 ...but the "answer" is 404'rd)

Thanks,
Brian

turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and turn the adjuster screws all the way in.
did you try this yet?

Yep, did both.

I confess, I shaved off a few millimeters off of the choke lever-ring thing up on handle bar so it could turn farther forward than it was meant to and therefore give me the extra centimeter of clearance I needed.
