I'm hearing something, sounds more and more like it's coming from the gear box. Especially because it's sort of a muffled metallic noise.
Seems to be more in tune with the tire rotation than the engine speed. It's really slow, clunks a few times as I'm easing out of the clutch around 3,000 rpms..
Doesn't happen anytime else, and only seemed to come up over the last few hundred miles.
Any pointers on where to look first? I changed the oil and adjusted and waxed the chain recently.
Or should I just pull the engine cover off? Am I gonna need replacement gaskets before I dig into that?
yeah dude mine just did tha today :o
sucks
and yeah i think u need to buy a replacement gasket for it when u pull the engine cover off :thumb:
if you found out what it is let me know
i'm guessing it might be the chain being loose i'm not sure.

ding ding ! clean, lube, and adjust it's tension. it will sing instead of cough !
Sounds like a loose chain. If you adjust it and it still does it,you may have some stiff links.Replace it.I tried to unstick the links and messed up the chain.Try this.

If you need a new chain any 520 o-ring chain will work. You need one with 110 links for stock 16/39 sprockets.
Seems to be cured now, thanks!
I guess I cleaned it a little too well the first time and didn't lube it enough.
I did it over again, soaked that sumbitch in chain wax, and it hasn't made a peep since.
Now if only I could get over this ear infection and do some more riding...
