Title: Hi! New and in need of Parts
Post by: doverider on April 20, 2008, 05:52:19 PM
Hi,
I'm new to this website.  I'm dying to get my old 1998 GS500E back on the road,  I set it down last fall.  Now I need some critical parts.  If anyone has any of the following that they are parting out at a reasonable price, I would be extremely grateful.

I need a:
Headlight: lamp unit, stainless steel ring and rim
Left rear view mirror
Speedometer with mounting frame and housing
Carburetor re-build kit
Battery

BTW as long as I have the carb apart, is there a jetting and after market pipe combo that will give me more performance, and better throttle tip in?
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Happy Riding!
Barbara

MAN, I haven't been to Quincy in a LONG time; say "Hi" to Gwen for me, and tell Linda in Braintree her evil voodoo had no effect on me... unless she's the one who made my hair turn white...

The mirrors bucks1605 has for sale give a good wide view of what's happening behind you, so you can see the sneaky cops sneaking up on you as they make their way through traffic, unlike most of the mirrors on the market (damn the sneaky cops for sneaking up on people). EDIT: Welcome to the madness; anyone who lives that close to Boston will fit in well here...

noober

Second EDIT: You might find some parts you need in this thread, if you act quickly:

I am very interested.  What's the total cost and how would you like payment?

Thanks,
Barbara

EDIT: I can put them in a Priority Mail Flat Rate Box for $8.95 to anywhere. I'll pm you my info.

Thanks for the compliment!  That was a fun day - automatic weapons shoot!  I just loved the tank, so had to pose with it.  Thanks for the link too!!

I have a battery, speedo (19k) w/ housing , and headlight as I am parting out my bike, let me know if you are interested as combining shipping will cut down on cost.

Here's links to info.I'd do a K&N lunch box filter with an after market exhaust. It's easier to get the jetting dialed in.
