Title: Jetting and pipe combo?
Post by: doverider on April 21, 2008, 05:04:45 PM
I need to take the carb apart on my 98'.  Anyone know of a jetting and after market pipe combo that will give me more performance, and better throttle tip in?
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Happy Riding!

there is a re jetting matrix, http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Upgrades/Rejetting that holds the starting point for a re jet. i have a K&N lunchbox filter, and a V&H pipe, 40 idler and 150 mains, on my 98 and it runs nicely now. i did have a dyno jet mess, and a cracked intake pipe, but things are much better now.

you could try richening your mixture with the mixture screws first, just a little. they're usually lean by default.

check the matrix, know it isn't perfect, and good luck :)
