I just installed some vortex clip on's and did a Katana wheel swap yesterday, totally change the apperance of the bike which was exactly what I was going for, I personally hated those handlebars and that skinny wheel. Wheel seems to be fine, I got it up to my usual 120 mph on the way to work this morning, no shaking, I guess that means I adjusted the chain correctly! I'm somewhat of a self proclaimed mechanic, but motorcycles are just recently a new world for me, you think you know alot until you take it apart and start figuring things out! I do need some help with tire recomendations, I got the bridgestone 160 on it now, but I heard that running bias and radial isn't good, but then my buddy told me it's ok as long as the radial is on the back. If you guys could just tell me the best tires to run, I live in south florida, lot of stop and go, but also many interstate road to play on at high speeds. I also want to upgrade the shocks, how about some suggestions on that. Thanks guys.
In terms of the suspension I would upgrade the front and rear. Throw a kat 600 rear shock in the back, and buy some sonic straight rate springs for the front. Or buy a kat f/e and throw sonic springs in that. :icon_twisted: You could also buy progressive springs which are cheaper than straight rate, around $60.
I'm not very knowledgeable on tires, I'm sure others will chime in on that.
Shinko 005's 120-60-17 and 160-60-17.If I can ever find time to finish my bike,I'll stick'em on.
