I got another 89 top tripple and it has no bars. What have some of you used in place of the OEM bars for the clip-on style? Did you drill holes for the controls?
I used the bars from my 95 Katana 750 front end.My controls don't have the locating pins tho.
I just took the stock bars to home depot and got some replacements. Then I had to notch out a grove for the bolt that holds the bar to the clamp and drill holes for the controls.

Did they cut them for you? Are they the same thickness and everything? I have another set I can take off to measure and evrything

Yeah they cut them for me. The tubing was slightly smaller in diameter than the stock bars, the only thing was sometimes the left control pod would slide a little when I moved the choke lever. So I would just hold it with my hand when I adjusted it, also the ID was smaller so I had to drill out the inside so I could use the rubber expandable bar ends.
any 7/8 bar will do.
here's a little more info on the crecent or notch you'll also need to do, to get them to stay securely in the clamps.
