Title: Anyone have a deadbeat seller on e-bay
Post by: jhutch2115 on April 30, 2008, 02:47:51 PM
Has anyone had the experience of a deadbeat seller?? Last Thursday I won an auction for a Katana rear wheel and the payment cleared that day and the seller  had went to UPS to for a flat shiping rate (I have a shipping tracking number), but had not sent it until the payment clear (understandably), and they e-mailed me to confirm preference for of payment type.  I sent a polite email out yesterday and no response and another one today and I am waiting for a response either via phone or e-mail. But here it is wednesday and I have not recieved any additional conformation from the seller, am I being anal about this or is it reasonable to expect someone to contact me in this situation??  Has anyone had a seller bale out of a deal ? And what happens beyound me getting a refund and them getting a bum make on their score?? Most likely nothing. I did contact E-Bay and they said that I had to wait 10 days before filing a compaint or concern re: non-shiped item that has been paid for. Well, I hope these people ship this out because I got a nice deal on it, and I would prefer to have the tire, sprocket, and rim vice the $92 I paid for it and shipping.   -- JIM :)

I experienced a dead beat seller through amazon. Bought a book on april 2nd, chose the expedited shipping. Didn't get the book until the 22nd. I had already went out and bought the book because I had a report due on the 18th. I filed a complaint with amazon, got a full refund and the book.  :thumb:

Had one seller bale on a quality pen once. Lost about 20 quid (he was in UK). It happens. If you're buying from someone in the same country, you'll be fine. Paypal is great about rebates. You may not want to stratch his record, cause he'll scratch yours (happened to my first eBay name ... ionicbond4). However, eBay will take deliquent sellers to town and cut them off.

Since then, I've done literally hundreds of trades as both seller and buyer. Some things are slow, but he'll probably come through.

Yeah,

I had a guy that was trying to dodge the reserve fee on ebay and I had won the auction for an 1972 Dolphin's autographed football for $100. I immediately did paypal (was real excited if your a dolphin fan you know why). Got an e-mail saying later that day he was retracting the sale. Sorry to dissappoint. Long story short I got my money back he got banned from ebay for six months. But, I was still extremely unconsolable about not getting that piece. Who knows coulda been fake.

So it happens! But, paypal is good that is all I will use with ebay!

Well I have GOOD NEWS to report !!! The tire and rim came in today, although the tire doesn't have as much tread on it as I hoped,(I may get 1K to 1.5 K if I am luck and safe) but it is still a good deal. I sent a thank e-mail to the person, but I still find it strange that that they didn't at least repond to my inquires to if it had been shipped. Oh, well I'll figure it out tomorrow.  Thanks to everyone and their support and stories, I have my final MSC course day on Sat, I just completed the test and aced it. Best  of ridding to all!! - JIM :)

Just received what I thought was my order from a guy on ebay.He accidently mixed my order up with another and I got the wrong parts.Soon as he got my email,he promptly returned one.He appologized, is covering return postage and sending me the parts I ordered. That's good service.  :thumb:

Can't beat that! Always makes me feel a lot better when someone is willing to go the extra mile to correct the situation and make the customer happy.

That's the best way to handle it, I find that if you are respectful and treat the seller with dignity then they will do you well in return. It's often just a little mistake or slip up, something they'll be happy to fix.

that seems to be typical of folks. no response until they feel the money slip sliding away... then they get on the ball again.

I always ship the same day I make a sell unless the auction ends after the post office or ups closes. Then I ship at lunch the next day.I don't drag my feet. One time I had a family emergency and emailed the guy with my situation.I let him know it would be 3 days before I could ship and I would refund his money thru paypal. He said take care of your situation and ship when I could.Soon as I returned back home,I shipped, and got the best feed back from that buyer.
