Several recent threads have discussed theoretical top speeds vs. gearing. In particular, people seem to be interested in the effect of tire size and sprocket teeth on engine speed [rpm] and motorcycle speed [km/h] or [mph]. I decided to create a spreadsheet that allows the user to input these variables and output the theoretical top speeds.
I have created a wiki article that gives more details and a provides a link to the spreadsheet:
http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Main/GearingCalculator (http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Main/GearingCalculator)
I would appreciate any feedback on the calculator. Let me know if it was useful, if there are problems, if the calculations are wrong, if it's ugly...
Hope it helps!
p.s. thanks to Kerry for hosting the spreadsheet on his website
