well ive had the 14t sproket on for about 2 months now, and put around 1000 miles on the bike with it so here are my thoughts:
Around town
It accelerates harder, its in the powerband more and basicly is great. Gas milage around town didnt take a hit, seems to be about the same if not better. Power delivery seems to be better quicker to revs. basicly a great change
Highway
It sucks. anything above seventy and the damn thing is screaming and gas mileage absoultly sucks. i expected a hit but not as big as it takes here. For my uses around town its great but on the Highway or sustained speeds above 70, forget this mod. the engine revs too hard and you just dont want to ride like that for long distances, i did a long ride this weekend, average speed 75, and averaged 35 miles to the gallon over 300 miles and the engine probably hates me now for that 7500-8500 rpm scream fest.
conclusions
Fun mod for around town and commuters but of you want to do any sort of longer rides, dont go to any thing more than the 15t or just leave it alone, im seriously thinking about changing it back to the 16t or buying a 15t. 5th essentially becomes 5th with this so long range cruisers need not apply.
also this mod is not at all for beginners, the bike is way less forgiving. so again, THIS IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS
Brad
Exactly why I want to go to 18 tooth, I spend most of my time on the highway and over here I'm usually at 7500-8000 rpm, translates to 80-85. But I didn't think it would be 35 mpg. Wow hopefully my mpg will increase in proportion to what you lost.
I love it around town, dont get me wrong, but highway, forget it.
I have a 15 tooth , and i think its the best one really , it picks up quick in town , and its Fine on the motorway ,
then again , Motorbike engines sound like Orgasms to me.. so u no , id love the high pitched screaming 8)
i do too. nowaitaminute, were talking about bikes :icon_confused:

Don't let Danielle see this. She won't let your ride her OR the 675 again. :icon_razz:
Lol , i told her about it , and she just sed * Oh why wasnt it me? etc etc * , i just sed ,well ill just have to have u between the Gs and Daytona ,, she agreed :thumb:
dude.....I was going to yell at you for treadjacking but....... or :2guns: i havent yet decided.
Twas a complete Threadjack , but these 20 year olds damn the only time ive liked being young!
In short 15 tooth good 14, seems bad for highway :thumb:
im thinkin im gonna be buying a 15t, but ya, 14t bad, really really bad for highway...
I had a 15t and a 140/60 rear tire, once you figure the math... the gear reduction is pretty close to a 14t. not cool on the highway. I left the tire on and went back to the 16t and I'm debating on a 17t.
I have had my 14t ob for more than 5 months now and have no issues with the highway, You'll get used to the reving after ahwile it feels normanl. Dont worry the gs can rev past 8k I cruise mine at around 9k or a lil higher doing over 80mph. Im even wanting to either go down one more in the front or up a few in the back.
I had the 15T, one of the best mods I ever did. Added just enough git'up'n'go, but didn't take too much off the top end.

Im not worried abotu the revs, its the mileage over long trips freaking sucks!
oh I dont tour so I gues for those who do going up in the front would be best
I've got a 17T front and 44T rear..with a 150/60 rear tire.Final ratio of 2.59.Seems real smooth and non-stressed at 70.Alot more so than the old set up I had of a 15T front 39T rear and stock rear tire. With alot of throttle left.
