Virginia International raceway
15 miles east of Danville Va off of Hwy 58
I had 2 races on saturday....back to back
6 lap and then 16 lap race
the first race was Vintage 5....I got 4th
raced against a V3 CB350 and some old BMW TWIN(850?)
Buff on the CB can ride that old turd....yes, he kicked my ass
how can he get a 70-72 bike to go that fast and make the turns is a sight!
I ended up with a 4th in class
I came in...got water and went right back out for the 2nd race....money race for lightweight bikes...SV's, FZR400, Hawks, RS/TZ125's, RS250's .... and a GS500 with a STOCK engine with carbs/pipe
I think i came in...11 out of 15-18 bikes
Sunday I had race number 14...CLUBMAN!!!!!
I raced against MZ660's MZ762, FZ600, seca 550, ex500....and A GS
I was on the ass of the seca for 4 laps
passed him going into the rollercoaster(late brake!!!!!) on lap 5
he came by me on the front straight....big supprize
he could pull 5 bike lenghts+ on the straight
last lap...I went in deep into turn one on the inside and passed him again
figured mabe...mabe.... that i might have scared him and slowed him down....
coming onto the front straight.....he motored by me and gave a friendly wave going across the finish line...bastard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :x
talked to him after the race....he had 58-60 HP to my 40-42HP
geeee i wonder why he passed me in the straight.......
and the MZ's were long gone after the first lap....in FRONT!!!!!
I never checked my finish...probably last or second from last
but i had FUN...
WFO cranked over in 5th is interesting
I actually noticed the gear ratio change due to smaller diameter of tire when leaned ...F*#&er would accererate harder
all in all
I had the only GS at the track...AGAIN :(
I had a great time and I will take it back to battle as soon as I can afford to again....NEXT YEAR
I am done for this year
VIR is the best place in the US to ride a bike....(Barber is too dang far a drive.)
Right on! Glad you had fun! Going to have fun is the only way to race, otherwise you're not going to enjoy it! When I raced I did make it a point not to be last  (didn't want to set my sights too high... )
You gonna be there this weekend for AMA? Let have a beer or five if you plan on going. I'm meeting a few guys from Richmond in addition to the 4 going with me. I won't have the bike though - I'm covering the event and needed to bring along all my photo equip, laptop, etc. in addtion to my camping gear and cooler of beer. Hopefully my buddy will loan me his Radian for the track ride...
made it to RRW....
