Title: Bike won't start after putting diode into turn signal indicator
Post by: Toogoofy317 on May 11, 2008, 12:38:14 AM
 I was doing the EASY diode install to the turn signal indicator. Well, I followed all of the directions I turned on the left blinker all worked fine! When I turned on the right nothing but a small puff of smoke from the turn signal indicator. At that point I undid it all but no lights and worse of all the bike won't even start! I checked the fuse it looks fine. I put the tender on and the lights won't come on with it hooked up much less start! The reason I was installing the diode is because in February I installed LEDs turn signals and the only way they would work is if I took out the turn signal indicator. At that time I did install a load balancer (think that is what it is called).

I took pictures of each step I did if that will help I will post.

WHAT HAPPENED and how can I get my baby back and working?!?!?!? I'm desperate!

Sorry this was worded so poorly this morning I was exhausted, frustrated, and not feeling well.

replace teh idiot light? or if that is not feasible, wire in ( temporarily a small +12v light and see if bike starts?)

Edited the first post to say what needed to be corrected. Guess I'm the idiot!

Well,

Turned out I blew the fuse! Was too tired to realize that I was checking the spare fuse  :icon_rolleyes: . This Florida heat will mess with you after a while. Unfortunately, the turn signal indicator light still does not come on. I used the volt meter to check  if the indicator socket is working but it isn't registering a current. Also, can one burn out the diode?

This is my last escapade with electrical mods! Help would be greatly appreciated. Again sorry about the lousy wording of the original post dehydration and frustration don't go well together!
