Hey, how do you like that rear IRC rx-01 tire???  I've been looking at cheaping out and getting that for my next rear tire instead of a sport demon.   btw, nice looking start on the bike.  where'd ya get the mirrors.

If you're cheaping out you can go my route and get kings, they only offer one sport tire it's a 140/70-17 but it wears long and grips decent. You can usually find them for about 40 bucks or so online, saw it for 35 on a site but wouldn't you know they charge a bunch for shipping. Either way expect to pay about 50-55 for it. Still plenty cheap as far as tires go.

cool, that looks allot like my 98. including the rusted, crusty master cylinder screws. Ace hardware has stainless replacements for those, and you know the fluid hasn't been changed in forever if it's that rusty/boogered.

Here's my experience with fixing that: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=41127.msg462385#msg462385 (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=41127.msg462385#msg462385)

The little oil leaks are not a big deal. The chain looks overly tight though ?

Nice bike Tang!  Almost identical to mine!  Are those holes in the rear plastics?  Botched signal job?  The back of my front fender is getting turned to butter like yours is.  All that heat from the pipes being so close kind of ensures that though.

I went cheap and got the Kenda K671 and love them.  Of course, I don't have much to base that on since it's the first set of tires I've bought ever, but they were a decent price.  I think around $125.00 for both shipped.

lewismug - yeah i don't know why the front fender is like that :-( PO doesn't even know
those fenders yes have holes due to PO stuipd -_-
i spray painted the plastics black now but taped over the GS500 lol so it still has GS500

ohgood- hmm might have to change the fluid
            whats a master cylinder lol
i think the chain is loose but i don't know lol i'll take another picture of it once i get my camera back from my g/f lol

My front fender was melted like that, I ended up cutting the melted part off and it looks pretty good. You have any plans for those rear turn signals?? Those things are like 8 feet long!!!!

Bike looks great.  :thumb:

The front fender gets that way because of the heat coming off of the exhaust pipes.  They do get pretty warm in that area!

The fender thing- I know not all gs's have the melting fender problem. Is it typical of bikes that idle a long time, or are just running way lean ?

I'm in stop/go traffic on 100F days, and mine still has a nice shine to the paint so far. <shrug>

I have a front fender that has experienced some of that too!  According to the guy I bought it from, the guy who sold it to him said it was caused by a space heater in the garage.  I'm starting to think he was fed a line of bull.   What happens to these things?!  Your bike looks extra familiar with the meltage and all...

Nice rides!   :thumb:

But clean the garage already!    :icon_mrgreen:

Edit:  The stock fenders seem to melt.  By the time I got my bike it had a fiberglass fender installed.  I think it's made by Airtech.  No melting problems here.
