Title: Fuel tank petcock leaking out of the long (reserve) tube...
Post by: w00derson on May 16, 2008, 02:57:02 PM
Has anyone else ever experienced this? The petcock on my fuel tank is leaking out of the long tube only. I have my tank off to mess with my carbs and noticed it dripping. Its not a real fast leak, but it definitely leaves a mess if I don't tilt my tank to one side when its sitting on the ground. I ordered a new seal for where it meets the tank, hopefully thats the problem. What else could it be? Just the petcock going bad?

My GS is a 1992 BTW.

where exactly is it dripping from?
if its the seal between the petcock and the tank then just try tightening it up, if not then replace the seal.
if its coming from the fuel lines, then just replace the lines.
coming from the metal part of the petcock means you need a new one or a temporary jb weld fix  :thumb:

good luck

There's an o-ring inside that maybe bad. There could be dirt/rust lodged in there too.
