Is it just me, or is everyone else tired of being asked to do a wheelie or a burnout?
I was asked to do a wheelie once.I politely said, I will not abuse my bike and take chances on wrecking.
i just laugh at them especially when they make the throttle motion with their left hand..and say "do a wheelie"

I just pop the front end up and burn out while wheeling away. :icon_twisted:
Only for the ladies though.

it's like they are mere toddlers, expecting everyone to entertain them. pfff
oh, now when kids do the 'make some noise' motion with their RIGHT hand, i'll make some noise. the younger the kid, the bigger the smile. it's cool.
I can't resist little kids. Wheelies on litre bikes are easy so no biggie to power one up for the kids...yeah I know I'm a squid. Grown adults it's just pathetic.
Kids usually wind up getting scared if I hammer the the throttle too hard...race core pipes going from 8o to 105db in under a second can be hard on the ears.
no

105db??? Are you kidding?? that's still street legal ain't it??
105db measured at 40ft no it's not street legal some tracks won't even allow a pipe that loud to run.
bet you tho it sounds awesome at speed tho :icon_twisted:
Not very many people like to ride behind me for any amount of time... :dunno_white:
I'm in the 'laugh' group. I once had a guy do the 'wheelie' sign from a car on the highway in traffic when I was loaded down with tail and saddle bags on the SV650. He might as well have yelled "crash and kill yourself!!!" instead of "do a wheelie!!!" :cookoo:
I'm not positive, but a quick google search shows that the federal law is somewhere around 80 db. decibels are a measure of power and are a logarithmic scale, so I suspect that converting decibels to 'loudness' isn't a simple calculation, but I'm willing to believe that 105 is FREAKIN' LOUD!
Seriously, I've wondered about this a lot. In some states "modified exhaust" systems are disallowed, and the noise limits are all near those of the factory exhaust systems. Yet we all modify our exhausts to make them louder. Seems to me like its giving cops a free pass to pull you over :dunno_white:
At idle 82dbs is the federal requirement if I remeber right. Yes it's very freakin loud. And yes it's illegal as all get out. I llike to give the police small items to nitpick over then they sometimes forget the big stuff.
I'm pretty secure in my man hood.
I tell them all that its a 500. :dunno_white:
i actually got a "noise violation" ticket once. i was in an '88 chevy s-10. i pulled out from a gas station and the muffler came loose from the exhaust pipe just as i got on it. just so happens a cop was pullin out behind me. had to pull right back into the station again. i didn't even get a warning. but i fixed my exhaust that night and went to court and plead my case to a judge who dropped the charge. :icon_mrgreen:

i had straight pipes on my hd for a while. but never had tix or other hassles. cause basically i was respectful of when and where i let her roar O0
