So I just bought a brand new (to me) 1991 gs500, and unfortunately have to ride it to work without plates until I get it registered. (Work is 8-5, dmv is open 8-4:30, so i have to go on saturday). Apparently New Jersey's registration and inspection process is about the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard of.
Anyways, where the heck is the NHTSA label on a stock bike? The EPA noise and emissions labels are on the muffler, I got that much, but where is the NHTSA label?

Like i said its a '91 GS500E with 21k miles. Got it for $1400 including delivery compensation. First owner was a helicopter mechanic for the coast guard, so it has a lot of salty corrosion and rusty spots, but just on the body work, none of the engine parts (aside from the header pipes). Second owner (who i just bought it from) is a pro mechanic, pro 250cc racer, and son of a european F1 racer (found this all from stuff about him online, not just his word on it). Despite that, the bike is bone stock, so no crazy race mods or anything.
Runs like a dream, except a cold idle is a little sputtery and the rpms don't drop down from 3k to idle quite as fast as they should, but greasing up the throttle cable might fix that.
Being a cruiser rider, I hope I get used to the sportiness of it (and the fact that its just a tiny bit too tall to flat-foot) before I accidently kill myself. I nearly dropped it going around the corner to park it behind the house (it really wants to move compared to my savage!). Got used to it after a few laps around the neighborhood though (I hope).

Savage and GS ... huh, must be some kinda spatial, time warpy correlation thing going on. I bought the first savage literally 2-3 months after buying my first GS, and I am on savage #4 and on GS #11 and #12.
