Do you have OEM bars w/ mounting holes drilled in them?

All I can think is that those bars are slightly smaller than stock, I don't know how that could be though. Hopefully the clubmans will remedy the problem.

That's always an option. Just keep it clean, don't want it to look jerry-rigged!

Could try thin rubber?  I use it to mount the GPS on my KLR.  this slice of rubber round the bar then clamp down to that.  works better than tape.  Or just put up with it till thursday when the clubmans arrive.

The side that the bolt head is on.The Plain U shape part with out the lever perch.Take that, lay out a piece of sand paper on a flat surface.Put the flat sides down and work it back and forth.Periodically reinstall to see if it's tightening up.

plumbers trick....

teflon tape 2-3 times around the tread of the mirro bolt, will fix the missing space and will prevent it from locking up like other methods (gazy glue, caulking, welding in place) would be.

Cheers
