Probably can't find any info because that bike doesn't exist. They didn't begin production of the gs500 until 1989.

I'm guessing that is a '90-'93.

That is because it didn't exist in '82. '89 was the first year. Is that a '92?

I don't know off the top of my head.

I bet the seller typed 8 instead of 9, they're right next to each other you know.  ;)

Actually they started making the GS500 in the early 80's.  Not THAT GS500, but none the less.

Are you speaking of the 4 cylinder GS550?There are no other GS500s.Check http://www.thegsresources.com/ It's in the history section. Our GS500 is a spin off of the early 4 cylinder GS 2 valve bikes.

If that's what GSR says then it's flawed.  The 4-banger GS went 400, then 425, then 450, and finally 500 in 1980...and it hung around for a whopping span to 1981.  The 550 was around through the entire baby GS history, and then some...1977 to 1987 or so.

Actually, I just checked GSR and it completely skips the 500, 425, and only references the 2-cylinder non-production 450. :cookoo:

700 dollars is not bad at all, plus insurance is $102/yr with my AMA membership =) Its funny, my insurance company doesn't know what a gs500f is, doesnt know what a sv650s is. They quoted me for a gs500fek and a sv650kg.

I keep tabs on the ebay listings (for several years now) of the 89 to present GS and have a page with some data you might find useful.

GS500 Census (http://vtxstar.com/GSpopcount.htm)

Some have said the prices are somewhat close to the dealer resources.

If it was a running 92, $700 was below the going online rate, condition of course matters though it is not considered in my data.

The listing has been pulled at the time of this posting, 24May2006.
