Hey all - cool tale:
I was riding in a residential neighborhood when a guy on a bicycle (coming the opposite direction) tapped his helmet and gave me the "slow down" hand signal. Maybe he was a mc rider too...dunno. Anyway, I nodded, slowed down, and sure enough there was a speed trap a block down the road.
I don't ride too fast in residential areas anyway, but it was cool having a cyclist look out for me - they usually don't acknowledge mc riders.
I'm a dedicated cyclist and I can tell you I do the same. It was interesting to find out how many of my riding/racing buddies have or had motorcycles. Seems like all part of one big brotherhood (and sisterhood).
We're all looking out for each other. Good Kharma.
[on second thought, bicyclist must have been a motorcyclist too. The head tap is not a bicycle riders signal.]
Cool! All these tales of goodness are making me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.
(All right...no wisecracks...)
Yeah, I know a lot of bikers who ride (or is that riders who bike ;) ) This guy must have also been a motorcyclist. I was happy for the help :)
sounds cool. i ride my bicycle's more than i ride my gs,is that sick or what. have fun. see ya.
have you ever passed a rider who just totally ignored you with no hand gesture or acknoledgement. i dont know about you guys but its really cool to get that little hand wave of respect from other riders. saluting the skill that some other people cant do. its just cool
lots of harley riders will only wave to other harley riders. (most will wave to you though)
my dad rides a harely unfortunaltly, and to top everything off he doesnt wear a helmet. probably cause his friends dont, you know because wearing a helmet isnt cool if you ride a harley :x one day i got a pict from the internet of a guy who was in motorcycle accident and he wasnt wearing a helmet and this dudes brains were liteally all over the cement. so i printed it and stuck it on his door needless to say he wasnt that happy. but i mad my point. :thumb:
It isnt the fact my brains would be scattered that makes me wear a helmet. becuse i would be dead. I wear a helmet but cause i cant be positive that being in a helmetless wreck, that i would either be saved head trama, or Die. the most disturbing Pic i have seen wasnt the fact that the guy was missing his face from Bridge of nose down, few scatered teeth still attached and no read jaws left, no chin ect. it was the fact that the guy survived. he was sititng at a table in an ER lookin at the camera while they were taking his Blood Pressure. THAT rattled my cage. the thought of not being able to chew my own food for years due to reconstruction turns my gut, worse yet, i like kissing my wife, i like talking to my son. these arnt genetic problems, they arent diseases, this isnt an accident that NO ONE could have pevented.
Another cyclist with a motorcycling habit here. For some reason I still can't explain I joined up with the Bike Across Kansas (bicycle, not motor bike) folks one year. Great time, great people and LOTS of motorcyclists too. I volunteered as a ride mechanic, but everybody was super willing to lend a hand to anybody that needed one. Very family like, just like this board.
I should go now before I start quoting Hallmark cards or Kodak commercials. :)
yeah every year i do a charity ride called tour de cure(diabetes), i frequently run into mc 'ers. most of em are pretty cool. i rode my bicycle to and from mmi in phoenix, to save gas.
Its always good to have ppl on your side....... But sometimes there never around when you need them the most.........
