Title: Irony
Post by: nastynate6695 on May 22, 2008, 11:03:50 AM
I got a laugh at myself yesterday...

Driving to work in my truck (12 mpg) untill i can get a new engine for the bike (50mpg)..  Anyway pulled up to a light right before a road called bevile extension.  This road is nice....  It curves around the airpor has 4 nice banked turns that lead into straightaways and isnt traveled very often by the general public.   So anyway about to get onto the road after the light and a cop pulls up behind me in an unmarked car..  No problem i say hes just going somewhere else and wont bother me.. Turn onto the fun road  and what happens cop pulls onto the fun road..."damnit there goes any little bit of joy i was going to have before work"  So im putting around the corners at just above the legal speed limit of 45 mph..  would usually be doing around 70 in the truck   and 90 on the bike... Make it just past the second turn   low and behold he have a speed trap from hell.     So i continue on my way at the desired pace finish the turns  make it to the road for work..  I go left cop goes right..

If it had not been for un marked car   i would have had a nice dept to the city that would be owed and a few extra points..

Text a friends to warn them (like any good friend should)  and a buddy that works at a bike shop at the end of that road said he had  5 customers come in that got tickets on their way to pick up parts for their bikes...

Not here they aren't.

We have police driving mustangs and escalades and trucks and every other damned thing you can think of, the city and state have begun using seized vehicles instead of auctioning them off. That's How our highway patrol busa program began. Basically the drive them to the end of useful service life and then austion them off saves on fleet purchase costs.

Our local PD, HiPo's and SO are using dodge chargers for patrol cars now, the K9 officers are getting magnum station wagons. The marked patrol fleet is being almost completely phased out only a few marked patrol units are being used.

Even the bike's are using a less distinctive paint job so they don't stand out, was booking along at about 15 over on the interstate waived to an oncoming bike and then realized it was a trooper. He was cool and waved back so all was good.

Definition of Irony...

Sweating your balls off in 120 degree heat in a plant building air conditioners.

Now that's funny -- I don't care WHO you are?

Yeah I always marveled at the fact that I built some of the largest commercial HVAC units in the world and and the company couldn't cool a 750,000 sq foot plant floor.

And now the coils get chopped off of buildings in the middle of the night and sold for copper scrap by thieves.

"Sure, we'll buy your copper.  You sure have a lot of brand new refrigeration coils to scrap, but who are we to ask questions.  Here's your money."

Same thing has been happening with our wire roles.. Some guys 6 months ago in broad daylight stole a bunch of  number 3 wire out of our trailers at the orlando airport.  Still wrapped in plastic.

As far as the unmarked cars   we have a dodge 3500  running around.

A chevy S-10 in white

Bet that makes an impression on the customers.

If it were me, you'd be wearing a beaver hat, gloves, and a furry parka in the middle of summer.  The ice cream would be free and plentiful too.

LOL yeah that was winter attire, actually winters weren't too bad they at least heated the damn place some, I woulda quit if we didn't have heat.

The electronics cabinets for our machines were airconditioned, so they didn't overheat and shut down.
