Title: 2004 starter clutch and generator rotor in a 2000 engine?
Post by: badguy on May 27, 2008, 05:45:32 PM
The part numbers on the microfiches are different, but I'm not sure how they could've changed these parts.  Does anyone know if these are interchangeable or if I should stick to the same GS generation?  I've got a cracked magnet and the starter clutch was freewheeling last time i tried to start it (but when I pulled it apart, it worked the way it should  :dunno_white:)

Any advice?

edit:  in case it wasn't clear, I'm trying to save money by getting a replacement rotor and starter clutch from a 2004 engine and put it in my 2000...

Thanks!  I figured if I asked at a dealer they'd try to talk me out of it and want to sell me the parts for some stupid amount of money...but it can't hurt to try :thumb:

It will work :thumb:
They might have improved the magnets or something. But it fits the same.

Sweet!  I thought so...but I figured one of you racers had to have gone through something like this, so I wanted to be sure.  Thanks a ton!

By the way: I haven't taken advantage of this, but thanks for modifying the ignition rotors for folks - you're too generous
