Title: GS500 touring
Post by: crazyfish on May 29, 2008, 02:59:02 PM
Hey guys,

Im planning on going on about a 3 week trip around europe this summer and im just wondering what i should get done to the bike before I go. Ive already fitted a wingrack successfully to the bike (Will get pics up if you want, i dont know if anyone has done it before), I need to get a pro to take a look at my tires and i should get a new chain + sprockets but what else should I do before I go?

Cheers

check your battery, pack a spare headlight bulb, tire plug kit (that you can say you've tried out on a spare tire successfully), check your bolts/screws/connections, change your oil/filter, all that fun stuff......

and most importantly, go buy a bigger SD card for your digital camera, so we can all enjoy the views you will :)

good luck !

Check everything.

Check
double check

just do a full service before you go and replace anything that is worn.
Replace the cheap stuff regardless of condition EG: plugs, oil, air filter.

Look at buying a cheap Sat Nav and mount to your bars.  Makes long distance touring a snap as map checks are eliminated.

You might want to pick up a spare clutch/brake lever...and know how to replace them.

Be safe and have fun!  :thumb:

Post pics of the rack, I'd like to see it.
