Post by: nacnacrida on May 29, 2008, 04:24:27 PM
if i go to bring the wheel up by popping the clutch at slower speeds, 10-15, i just spin out and the front wheel does not lift....
why is this
i do not need to hear squid and what not, plus i wear full gear with the exception of jeans

I've never tried, but maybe you're using too much throttle?  :dunno_white:

Have you got bigger sprockets? It could be the clutch slipping.Slick tire. The list goes on and on.

Well think what helps a wheelie , as we have seen ,. gearing ur bike to about 80 mph , will make it fly up , im sure risers and Mx barvs help get that yank up , also weight , and the centre of balance , u want all the weight to the rear of the bike , and dude keep ur right foot near the back break , search gs wheelie , on youtube and see how much damage u can cause for a silly mistake ,

id feel much more comfy doing a power wheelie on a Gsxr or r1 , or  something like that , that way u have more control with the throttle instead

get sum leather trousers,  dont u no jeans like melt in around 3 seconds? and a nice pair of boots for that ankle

thanks for the imput.
The tire only has 600 miles on it and the clutch has just been adjusted. I have searched and i see people saying dump it at like 9k rpms and im only doing about six so i doubt it is to much throttle.
And I do wear riding boots.

^^ don't do that, it WILL LOOP on top of you !

Mine would come up easy in 1st before I changed to a 15t (minus one on the front) cog. Get her rolling, just passed needing the friction zone of your clutch to continue moving. "Feather" the clutch a little, and rev it, either the clutch will slip, or the front will come up.

You're sitting normally, right ? If you shift too much to the front, ya, you can spin the rear.

Don't ever ever ever just dump the clutch. :)

If your clutch is slipping instead of your tire, you'll of course have to fix that first.

I just hope you don't end up throwing your bike down, or worse, it looping onto you. ;)

Quotedont u no jeans like melt in around 3 seconds?

Actually jeans can hold up for ~0.6 second.

I'd love to learn how to get that front wheel in the air as well, but i think it will have to wait till i get another bike. I dont wanna wreck this one

its not as hard as it seems, but then again I have a 14t front sprocket ans I can rev to about 7 or so and drop the clutch and pop the front up but since Ive have yet to figure out my rear brake issue I let off the gas right away

learn to wheelie on a mountain bike first.  Being able to wheelie a bicycle for as long a distance as i want, wheelies on any moto seem simple.

plus, its alot easier to ditch a mtn bike, and not trash it. :thumb:

Agreed

I learnt on a YZ80 and had a blast doing it.

learn on something that wont break easy like a small 2 stroke dirt bike or as "littleblackjeep" said a mountain bike.  its not about the power to get the bike up but more balance and rear brake control once it is up so you don't flip.
