ive searched through a lot of post and ive found someone mention www.chaparral-racing.com for the d.i.d chain and jt sprocket. id like to do one down in the front and one up in the rear, though i havent found a site for a 40t rear sprocket for a 98 gs. anyone knows where i can get a rear 40t sproket. i found the chain cal. chart and tried using and was just lost. if i go one up one down can i use the stock length chain or do i need to change it? thanks for any input.
from what I seen you cant go up one in ther rear the smallest Ive seen is a 41t rear

Contact GSjack on here he can anwser this question easily.I have only seen a 41t rear and no 40t. kneedragers.com did have them.All rear sprockets are the same on all years of the GS.The front sprocket changed to use a shoulder in 94.So any 94+ sprocket should work for the front.

For these calculations, gsJack uses a chain calculator from Tsubaki:

You are proposing:
Front Sprocket -- 15 tooth
Rear Sprocket -- 40 tooth
To use the Tsubaki calculator you also need to know that the GS chain has a 5/8" pitch (0.625") and a sprocket centre-centre distance of approximately 25.5"
Results:Your required chain length is 110 pitches.Your ideal centre distance is 25.661 inches.
110 links is the stock chain length, so you can reuse your chain.
