I have center stand envy. Everybody's doing it now, and I don't have one. All the cool cats park on the center stand. :( Except me.
I know it won't change my status to 'cool cat' but I still want to install one WITH my V&H exhaust.
Any ideas ? I never had one to try.
I got a center stand for sale if you need one?
When I put mine on, we cut the stopper off the stock pipe and welded it on the V&H :thumb: I now went back to stock w/o the stopper and its still fine.. no problems 8)

i'm prolly gonna hold out until one of the local yards gets one in. the shipping would be killar for it i'd guess. :) thanks though for the offer !
If you don't have any luck at the local yard, you may want to consider guitarking's stand, I can't imagine shipping would be much more than $10. You could probably get it in a flat rate box.

Has anyone made a custom center stand stopper? My chain touches the center stand and the noise is getting annoying.
I too have a V&H exhaust and would like to see some pics for ideas.
Thanks

A stopper on the stock exhaust? so that's why my center stand used to smack into the frame every time I hit a bump when I bought my bike? It also has a V&H and the center stand just used to smack against the swingarm. I took some rubber peices and ziptied them right onto the legs of the centerstand. Problem solved.
Once I get the bike running I think I'm just going to pull the center stand off, but right now I need it until I finish working on the bike.
How does the exhaust affect the chain? I'm not picturing the cause and effect here. I can see the center stand exhaust connection but not the other! Maybe I was outside in the heat too long!

The stock exhaust has a piece of metal welded on to it to stop the center stand from going up too high and touching the chain.
My bike has an aftermarket exhaust which doesn't have that piece of metal welded to it, so the center stand touches the chain when in the up position.
Center stand with pipe is possible, never a question ... sometimes oil change requires pipe removal, that was the only issue.
You can zip tie a chunk of car tire to the shock linkage and it works to stop the center stand from hitting your foot.
Or, OK the scott method is OK too ... :icon_mrgreen:
Cool.
Buddha.
just for reference, I have the V&H full system on mine and don't have to remove the exhaust for oil changes. I do get a little bit of oil on the exhaust, which just burns off when I start the bike, but if you really wanted to keep it clean you could just lay something over the exhaust that won't melt, such as a towel and some plastic on top of that.
