Title: Misc carburetor stuff for sale.
Post by: The Buddha on June 04, 2008, 08:41:09 PM
Guys I have some parts that were previously listed as very hard to find.
Diaphragms - $5.
Float gaskets - $5.
Slides - $5.
Needles - $5.
Floats - $5.
Float needles $5 (this I am not sure if I have, I have to send 2 out, have to look if I have more)
OK OK everything is $5 unless it is super small, or a jet or a non removable part. Those will either be $1-5 or you'd get a nice slap on your face sent COD.
I got almost everything, some I only have 1-2 of, others in abundance. Like I'd toss in 122.5 and 37.5 jets in as packing material ... like only 300 of those, then some stuff looks different but will work ... anyway ask away. All these are good shape and should solve your problem ... if you did your troubleshooting right.
To all prices will be added $2 shipping. Very rapid turnaround time too.
Cool.

just had my carbs rebuilt / cleaned out at local shop , got it back and it ran good for 1 day , then started bogging out , i squeezed clutch in and it revved ok, let out the clutch and it bogged again. guy says i need 2 new " intake tubes " that go between the carb setup and the engine , also said i need 2 new "needles" . does this sound accurate ?  any and all help is appreciated. do you rebuild carbs for a gs500 ?

I will fix the carbs ... I dont like to use the word rebuild ... but I do whatever the idiots at the shop do, only better, cheaper and with far less attitude and more accountability and with a goal to educating you.
Send me carbs and $45 ... now why did you need needles ?
Float needles or needles needles ... either way, dont believe their BS, I'll test and do what it needs.
It ran 1 day and bogged the next day ... you think its got fuel flow issues ... like a tank petcock being closed ?
How about tank vent ?
How is tank rust ?
Either way ... send it, you dont need carbs, carb parts maybe, but those are relatively cheap.

My parts should be in by tomorrow 10am at the shop , they think the " tubes" from the carbs to the engine was cracked. If its not running right then i will send you the carbs. wish i found out about you a few days sooner. Whats the usual turnaround from when i ship to you till i get them back ? ( just wondering )

Well I need 1 hour of dry, sunny and preferably not freezing cold weather per set of carbs (at a maximum) On ocassion, I have sat on carbs for 2 weeks without finding that hour ...
I had rain this saturday and went to a balloon festival sunday and didn't touch the 2 sets waiting for me this weekend ... as you can imagine, all that is now waiting for one evening or next weekend ... Evenings I barely get home before dark, and starting this weekend its gonna be worse ...
But ... I'd say 1 weekend if its a simple check this, swap that job. More if its got stuff that needs to be bought.

And for your symptoms - Intake manifold leak will have idle shoot up with WD40 spray, but beyond 2500-3K rpm wont affect running much. Your problem will not be fixed by swapping intake manifolds. I'd almost bet you have clogged something or other ... maybe a pilot jet ... maybe mains ... or somehting else altogether. Definetly, Not intake manifolds.

I wish you diagnose the problem first before doing random things ... bike shops like to swap parts, why ... its easy and they make $$ on both ends ... markup's and labor and best of all, the problem remains and they get to charge you again. Its easy to see a $1500 repair bill to fix a $1000 bike ... my savage is living proof ... the dude got a 1700 repair estimate for fixing the starter gear ... he gave me that estimate along with the mass of paper work he gave me. I dont believe I would have $75 in parts and maybe 2 hours labor. Maybe 3 if you count carb BS. Guess what, after I fix it ... it will never eat the starter gear ... ever ... period. In fact Savages are nearly the GS500 of the cruiser world ... suzuki made them for almost as long, the GS and savage were tied in price for the whole time they were made and suzuki still makes them in unchanged form ... OK OK changed a little but cross fit the parts just fine ...

Anyway ... you've waited for the shop for so long ... so dont just rush me. I specialise in doing the impossible ... I dont just swap crap ... so its gonna take whatever time it takes.

Cool.
