Title: Shifting
Post by: BreakerIBS on June 08, 2008, 02:07:32 PM
When I shift I let the clutch out smooth, and i give it gas as well, I still feel a jerk, nothing major, just the gears engaging. I was just wondering if this could damage the bike, or if it's ok, and I just need to get better at matching the throttle with the clutch.

I also feel the jerk, when i let off the throttle while driving, and then get back on the throttle.

Thanks,
Breaker

Sounds like to much chain slack.I had the same problem when I bought my bike.Adjusted the chain and all was well in the world.

I have read the manual that came with the bike, so to adjust the chain, I looses then axel nut and then adjust both sides and then retighten the nut??

I don't have a tourque wrench either. Is this a no no unless you have one, or can I go about it using a normal wrench.?

I have not used a torque wrench on my axle bolts.I have never had one slip or come out of alignment. However I don't do stunts on my bike.I'm a curve junkiee.

A decent torque wrench will serve you well time and time again. Proper rear axle torque is very important.

... in summary, buy a torque wrench  :thumb: :icon_mrgreen:

I agree.Even tho I don't use one on my axles, I use one on everything else.
