id like to have met these people, and ask tehm HOW did they learn this. not much room for error here
It actually shouldn't be too terribly difficult. They're moving at a pretty good clip. At those speeds the airplane probably settles on the gear and planes pretty well, the struts are definately compressing a little.
I suspect it would take a definite control movement to force the gear down, how much would depend on the speed, of course. Being that that they're well within ground effect at a fairly high speed, they're probably already applying some down pressure to get the gear into the water.
Never skimmed myself, I was more into flying C-150's backwards.
im quite sure of that, im an aviation buff myself, i figure with teh cost of equipment, and well their lives, im quite sure theyd not do it, if there was a good chance of a mishap., its not like stunting a motorcycle/bicycle. stakes are ALOT higher
When I was going thru flight training I rode with Vietnam AF vet.He did that in a Glassair I tail dragger. That plan is HALF the size of a Cessna C172.Scared the shaZam! out of me.I had 1 hand on the canopy and 1 hand on the latch.I was ready to go swimming. He did that on the center of Lake Greenwood in SC.Scared the boaters worse I believe.
id like to see a cockpit view of this or anthing like it :thumb:

Yea, that for me was hanging off the edge.I guess if I were at the controls it would have been different. That guy taught me a lot about aircraft control.I dunno what it's called when an airplane goes into a flat spin and starts flipping wing over wing at the same time.He showed me how to save the flight. That was a white knuckle ride from 8500 down to 3500.
but later on were you busy cleaning vomit, off of teh windows?

I only had a lap belt so I was to busy trying not to flop around, like a fish outta water, to puke.It was an undescribeable experience.

Makes me want to fly again. I have a license, but stupid gas prices prevent me from being able to afford time...

I have to get my medical reinstated from an injury I received a couple years back.At this point I'll probably never get my reinstatement.
Very cool. I like to live on the edge...I just opt for having a guard rail inbetween :icon_lol:
I also associate planes with motorcycles. Probably from the movie "Top Gun". One of these days...Goose is going to make it!
