Title: Rear Fairings and fuel tank
Post by: rickit on June 09, 2008, 04:50:43 AM
Hi guys, I'm new to the forums and just about to buy a GS 500 1991 as an upgrade from my CBR 125. I was just wondering whether you can fit newer fairings or a newer fuel tank to an old GS (1991). I like the "curves" of the new style plastics and am interested if they would fit my soon to be bike! Thanks guys! :)

You can fit a newer style gas tank without problems, it's a simple bolt on affair. The seat won't match up exactly, but it works. If you want to use the plastics, that's a bit more complicated. You'll have to fabricate brackets to mount everything, relocate your seat lock, probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.

Well the frame is indentical is essance , . just extra brackets for the new fairing,

Some dude on here is selling the fairing Brackets off his newer bike , and then just compair it to a naked 2001+ and have them spot welded on ,,

I just sold my 1996 parts to pay for a crashed 2001 of a member on here
