They are crush washers, correct? Changed the oil the other day and there was one on there, but of course it was crushed, and my factory filter didnt come with one, so Im wondering where I can order them? Id like to pick up 10 or so.
Boy I just got this bike the other day and cant stop modifying! I can never leave anything alone :icon_lol:
Changed spark plugs, changed the oil - dammit stripped 2 of the 3 oil filter cover studs! Got 3 new studs plus a few extra, 3 new bolts, new o ring coming from BikeBandit today.
Picked up a Vance & Hines full system today from a member here, thats on its way shortly.

My vacuum petcock was bad so ordered a new OEM one a few days ago and that comes in today - thats getting replaced this evening.
Think I need to look into new front/rear brake pads - rear is squeaking. Are OEM the best to go with or are there aftermarket pads that provide a better stop?

For brake pads get some good after market ones for the front, you can get cheaper ones for the rear.

Definately go with EBC HH brake pads.Can't member the P/N right off.That's what I used with my stock front end.Way better than Zuki pads.Check your local hardware and auto parts stores for the crush washers.Hose and hydraulic companies have them,and places that deal/work with tractors and heavy equipment.I got some simular for another project from true value for $0.15 each.As much as I hate to say it buddha has the cheapest price on jets. :laugh: But,here some links.

Remember the stock GS carbs are 33mm sling shot carbs.At least that is what I was told when buying carb parts.

I can't remember if mine had them in stock or not.
It seems like every time I put in an order at bikebandit I realize I need to make another order a few days later. Can't tell you how many times I've done that! That $6 shipping starts adding up pretty quickly.

The EBC double H pads were recommended to me for track days and street use, they worked great. However, I wore them out mid-day at the track last time, put the OEMs back on, and they did just as well in 100+ deg weather. So... I'd say, whichever you can get cheaper. The front tire, suspension, and experience have a lot more to do with stopping power than the pads do.

Not sure where you are from but I bought mine from a local autoparts store(Checker Auto) and they are listed as 14MM copper washers on the package. Work like a dream and cost all of like $1.50 for three of them. I am pretty sure the 14mm is the inside diameter.
I've put 370k miles on 6 bikes over 24 years, do all my own maintenance and repair work, never replaced a crush washer, and never had one leak. Three of those bikes had over 80k miles on them that I put on. You guys sure must be abusing your crush washers. :laugh: :laugh:
I haven't replaced a solid crush washer either, Jack. Not on my bikes, my machinery, cars, numerous gearboxes and motors, never.
No leaks here! Dunno what the fuss is about... :dunno_white: :laugh:
I usually dont either - just trying to do things by the book with this new bike haha.
I haven't replaced them on any mc's or autos,but I use them on hydraulic equipment.Hardware stores seem to be the cheapest for me.
