Title: Need a cylinder head!
Post by: anticoriolis on June 13, 2008, 05:30:09 PM
Hey guys, I'm really in a bind... I need a cylinder head to get my bike running again! Just bought it last month and due to some rotten luck found out 2 cam caps are cracked. First bike, spent most of my money and now really can't afford parts and labor $1200 for a new top end!

I've tried a bunch of salvage yards and hit up most people parting out their bikes on here... anyone have a head lying around I could buy from them? Prefer silver finish & complete with good valves but I'll take what I can get.

Thanks

Alex

Thanks, PM'ed. If anyone has a silver one please post as well! Like I said I'm not going to be picky because I want this thing running again, but a mis-matched cylinder head is going to hurt the resale...

Yes it will most certainly fit, just repaint or do some other cool paint job on the motor.

Sounds good TheTazZ , i will let you know if it falls though. its a good head at a great buy, i just want it out of the garage and helping someone who needs it.

Well, I'm back on the hunt for a new head. I bought one from a user on here and it ended up missing two of the cam caps. Really need to get my bike running!

So again, I'm looking for a complete head (valves, guides, shims/buckets, cam caps, etc). Not picky, would prefer silver finish but mostly I just need a solid head! Email me if you're selling!

Thanks

Oh F*(k ... I bid on this ... and I realised A****c is the anticoriolis dude possibly. I need a head for a customer ...
I cant lower the damn bid, and its at 35.
Anticoriolis and everyone else - if someone here posts about ebay Item, please call it here before bidding on it.
If you dont mind, dont bid, we leave it be and if it ends with me at or under $35 you pay me for it and its yours.
If it goes to someone else, feel free to get into the mix, I'll drop out at $35.
BTW this was supposed to be a drive by pick up for my friend, I tend to go for the drive by's for his bike.
Cool.

No worries Buddha, I hadn't bid on it yet. Good of you to do though, appreciate the offer. I'm trying to figure out if I can go for an F head, my bike is an '01 and I'd need to drill the casting out & install the mechanical tach drive, or update my cluster... not sure I want to deal with that but I'm getting desperate!

OK good.
Anyway I have a good GS head, my Idiot friend is just too cheap to pay for it.
My head has been decked, valves have a 3 angle job and so have the seats, the guide seals are brand new, and it has the right buckets in it (as in I didn't take out the A bucket and drop it in the D hole) It cost me over $75 just for that and he didn't want to pay $100 for it. He's hoping to score this for under $60 and hoping to put it on the bike without doing anything to it. Oh yea, his motor is black. If it goes past $35, he prolly will give it up. I guess we just wait and see.
Cool.

Wait so you've got that head with all the work done to it for sale, if he buys a cheaper head? Maybe I'm misunderstanding. If you've got it for sale for $75, it has complete cam caps and it's pre 2002 I'd really like to buy it from you

I was asking 100. I said I spent $75. Its one of those things he does, He didn't want to pay 450 for my katana forks.
So he bought some rusted sheite ... all said and done he's spent 400 almost. We still not done.
He didn't realise 100 was for the top triple weld up, and machining the stem, 150 for fork seals and 35 for bearings.
Hey I will get pics of it, but definetly its black. I almost didn't want to sell it. With him buying it, I get his head off the locked motor which I believe I can do another deck and 3 angle job on. I sorta like to sell locally. I get parts to experiment with  :icon_twisted:.
Cool.

Well I'm good with black if it's a solid head, and it sounds like it is. At this point I just want a running bike. If you end up selling it let me know how much you're thinking and I'm totally interested. Would be interested to see photos either way! Thanks dude
