looking to do a single seat conversion for cheaper rego in Qld.

Anybody know of any options for doing it on my GS500 2002 K2?

thanks, they certainly look a little different with those tails.

Probably a bit more than I want to do though, Im just after either a replacement seat or cowl cover that is fairly simple to do

Or even if somebody has had the original seat modified/

Have been watching a thread from the states here with interest

cheers

No one currently makes one but maybe soon. You could build up foam on the passenger section of the seat and recover it in 2 tone vinyl to make it appear that it has a rear cowl.I'm going to be doing this in a couple weeks.Just gotta finish reassembly.

It's my understanding, to get the single seat rego your going to have to grind off the passenger pegs. All off including the bracket-y bit, nothing left. Unless you find a dodgy place to certify the bike with them on.

I have a solo tail from Airtech Streamlining but they're only for the older square tail GS.I'm not sure if 02 had the square tail. Here's a link.

Why would the tank stop it from fitting?I have an 04 tank on my 89 and it fits. The tail screws or rivits to the bottom of the seat pan.Trust me,everything is far from me.No way am I going from a 5 gallon 04 tank back to the 89 3.5 gallon tank.Luv me fat tank.  :thumb:

oh ok, I thought they went from an 18 litre to 20 litre tank and therefore the seat changed (have read that on another solo cowling post in the main section)

Can definitely  be proven wrong because that opens up my options :)

If you have the wide seat it will not work.If you have the seat that is narrow and comes to a point at the tank it will fit. However the website states it will work on an 02.01 and 02 is where things get sketchy with year model changes.  :dunno_white:
