Hi guys,
I'm in the middle of adjusting the valves. This is what I found.
Intake #1= .02 clearance / 265 shim OUT OF SPEC
Intake #2= .03 clearance / 265 shim BORDERLINE
Exhaust #1= .05 GOOD
Exhaust #2= .05 GOOD
Looks like I'll need to drop down to a 2.60 shim to get one of the intake valves back into spec.
QUESTION:
What are your thoughts on the BORDERLINE shim? Should I go ahead a pop in a 2.60 now being that it's borderline and bring the clearance back up to the top of the spec range (.08) or check it at the next adjustment interval?
Thanks for any feedback.
I would base my decision on how soon that borderline is going to be out of specs and if you feel it would be long enough to justify leaving it borderline right now. :thumb:
Yeah, if it would stay borderline for the next 5k I'd be OK with that, but not knowing is what's got me :dunno_white:
The borderline valve clearance is in spec, so it's fine. Suzuki set both the spec and the maintenance interval, so don't worry too much about it going "bad" before your next service. Just make sure you do your next check on schedule - approx. 4000 miles (6000 km)
:)
see I knew someone would be able to explain it better than I was thinking! Good job beRto!
If it seems OK then I'll leave it for now.
Thanks guys. :)
