Title: meter assembly ( tack speedo housing) 2000gse
Post by: moondawg on June 17, 2008, 08:15:47 AM
Due to a most unfortunate mishap I need a new meter assembly...  Just the plastic and metal housings that hold and cover the speedo and tach.
Does anyone have one in new  or very good condition they'd like to sell?  Any suggestions as where to get it new?
Thanks so much...  as I need to get on it ASAP

Any dealer would have them. There were some used ones on ebay. They are all the same from 89 to present. The color of the gauge bracket changed from silver to charcoal in early 2000's.

Do you still have the old broken one?  I am making a custom "dash" to work with my vapor trail tech gauge and need just the portion the the oil, high beam etc lights plug into.  Don't care if the buckets themselves are broken.  Let me know what you have.

Thanks Rylon

I don't know what part your talking about when you say buckets and chrome but what I am looking for is the lower portion of the gauge cover.  Part number six in this diagram:

All I need is the lower portion where the rubber bits slide into securing the dash lights (oil, high beam, turn signal, and neutral)  Mine got thrown in the trash by mistake and I would like to have one, broken or not, to use that lower portion to make my own custom dash to work with my vapor trail tech.  Let me know if I'm still confusing, its hard to explain things without pics.

Thanks Rylon

I used the same schem. to order the parts... they are # 6  (cover) what I called the buckets, and# 11 meter bracket.
When Im finished with the repair I can send you the used parts or you can tell me specifically which part you need. Use the schem. to reference again.   The cover (buckets) house the speedo and the meter bracket (chrome) has all of the idiot lights.
hope that helps.  Ill get back to you.

Yes.If the tach is electric you'll have to wire it in and plug the cable drive in the cylinder head. You'll need a plug from an F model GS engine.I personally haven't done the conversion from a cable driven tach to an electric, but it has been done here several times.I'm not sure what year the tach changes to electric, but it's some where between 01 to 04.
