If you did not know...now you do. As quoted from the Urban Dictionary. ( http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ricer)
(Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt)
A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):
- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.
The "ricer" attempts to make their car "performance" by adding the modifications listed above. These ricers are not confined to any one ethnic group or color, however different ethnic groups are known for certain styles.
Honda Civics with big spoilers and 4" exhaust tips are considered to be ricers.
There is So Much Wrong with that Statement , Its untrue:
Take My Friends Dads 600 BHP Nissan Skyline Gtr 32
Yes it does need a 4 inch Exhaust for the 2.8 litre Turbo Charged Engine
Yes it does need a Spolier to Keep down force on the Rear at speeds of 150+
Yes it Needs a Body Kit for Aerodynamics , and To Force Air Under the car
It is nice to See HKS, GREDDY etc on the side to show what Tuning Products It Has
Hes not a ricer , its a Insanly Powerful Car
fair enough jay, but that skyline HAS a need fo r those items, whereas most do not
Ah see . We get people that put bodykits and 4 inch exhausts on 1.1 litre Saxos and Fiestas , Its Pathetic , What could a 1 litre car need a Spolier For ?
Seen a new GTR yet? I saw one the other day.......absolutely f%$king hideous, it really does look like a fat chick swallowed a 350z.
Not in person ...
I think it looks awesome ,. How fast it is compaired to the Price .. all that from a 3.8 litre Twin Turbo

its a huffed and puffed z, meh id rather import an actual skyline. not a renamed z, im not dissin the new skyline, but meh why spend teh extra, when you can buy a z, get teh parts for LESS, and hell buy the badging on ebay lol
The Nissan Skyline Gtr 32 and Gtr 34 are my two Fav cars in the world ,
The r32 looks stunning , and it cheap in compairison , i saw one On ebay for 918 Pounds! , and u can get a non turbo 2 litre , i may look into it
The Gtr 34 Has the nicest Stock lights in the world , and it rocks ..
However . The Stock Gt-r Does a claimed 193 mph , with 473 Bhp
The Other Gt-rs 32 34 are capped at 276 Bhp ,
then again , its been proven you can tune to 1000 bhp , and ive seen a video of a 1600 bhp Gtr 34
Nismo havent even made a Limited Edition Gt-r...........Yet :thumb:

Fast enough it got left in the dust by a GT2 and a Ducati 750SS.
I'd hate to see it match up against one of the really mean cars on the island.........like the 430 Scuderia.
I was just thoroughly unimpressed, sorry.
At the price you can actually get your hands on one, your not far from the cost of an R8.........a far sexier car in my opinion and equally as competent in it's quest to be a baby supercar. Honestly, you're better off finding a late 90's comptech NSX that puts down more HP, weighs less and costs less.
Nissan GT-r Price 53,200 Pounds NEW
Scuderia .....Price Range: £118,500 to £172,500 New
Gtr 0-62 3.5 430 0-62 3.6
Gtr Top Speed 193 mph 430 199 mph
So for ur 6 mph , u want to Spend 172,500 ... * which u have to to get the extras that make that 6 mph...
What are u smoking
Audi r8 0-62 in 4.6 , with a top speed of 187 ... for 77,000 - 82,000
quid
indeed speed isnt THAT important lol, not to me anyway
Uh-huh and Ferrari has a history of under-estimating it's cars. Such as the only Ferrari it's really fair to compare to a GTR as it's a front engine. The 599 GTB........Ferrari claimed 3.7 and testers consistently ran 3.5 and less. It was faster on track than Ferrari's own 430, Porsche's 996 and 997, and even the Ascari Kz1. And it's idiot proof, no skill required to launch it like a bat out of hell and even to corner. Check out the Top Gear test drive of it, the traction control system is truly incredible. Sorry, I'm still unimpressed by Japan's efforts to re-enter the supercar world. Honda/Acura had it right with the NSX and screwed up bad by stopping production, Nissan isn't really helping things.
and ferraris are all but unaffordable to pretty much everyone here, , Soooo terry, what could yourecommend that would be a bit mroe practical to teh average gstwiner err average joe lol
The NSX BOMBED , In the last year of Production they sold 23 , Its over priced and Crap ,
So , i dont see where u Justify the 118,000 Pounds... 1/4 of a million dollars , extra on the 430 . when u can have something that would rape most cars on the road .. for pence
good point jay, what would you suggest for average joe/jane, that was fast on a more practical level, me, heh idk, there is Soooooo much out there. and we as americans cant get half of em without jumping through hoops to import. heh you can import and register pretty much anything, BUT iti depends on how deep the wallet is
Short of track use........ how about a nice Quattroporte?? sub 6s 0-60 with 4 doors and Italian styling. Or maybe the MB C63 AMG, as I recall it's about dead on the price of a GTR........again 4 doors and performance that to a normal driver is going to be just as acceptable. (sub 5s 0-60 and comfortable room for 5!!) Or my personal favorite: Porsche Cayenne Turbo......an SUV capable of 4.9s 0-60!!!! Imagine the look on Johnny McRicer's face as you rip by his tricked out prelude in a f%$king SUV with your whole family!! That's the edginess Japan just doesn't seem capable of comprehending. I'm really not trying to bash the new GTR, it is an amazing car in all aspects, just not my cup of tea.
Jay, have you ever seen a comptech NSX putting 700 on the wheels??? In person?? Japan had it right with that one. Absolutely insane.
Ohhhh, BTW scuderia's can be had for about 200k here in the states, I can't even find a new GTR for sale on Dupont registry. Ya'll really do get raped on car prices over there.
So for Your 172,500 uve wasted on a piece of rubbish
I have a Brand New Gtr 53,200
And A New GT 2 131,000
I went a little over budget but u get my drift
How about...
Top Secrets Skyline
H K S Skyline ..
J U N Skyline .......... All putting over 1000 BHP to the Wheels , and they sell them for well under 100k, Thats a Deal
tbh terry i doubt you could afford the cars in that mag, i sure as hell cannot without selling the house, which i wont do for a car lol, although i do look at it, in lust ( dupont registry)
Uh huh, the only GTR's I've found stateside are 100k+, same problem as with the R8, MSRP may not be sky high but the market is cornered and shot sky high almost instantly by investors buying all stock of the cars to resale at profit.
There is a lot of difference in how vehicles are not only priced but regulated between our countries Jay, and that you need to take into account.

and wiht some finagling, they can be imported to the us. youd end up wiht a car that not many have, you can have a comparable car, with teh ferrari emblem on it, and one from someone else, performance aspects being similar, bUT like harleys marketing, your buying the name, im not dissing their cars, or harleys bikes, but you get my drift. every ferrari, ( with few rare exceptions) has a more practical equvalent out there
Well Yes And Know
Were talking about What You Would Spend in Each Instance... Your 200,000 ... Is 100,000 to me ..
If ur sitting in England with me with a cuppa Tea having this arguement , u take my Currency Into Account .,
If im sitting With You In the Us , We go by ur money
tbh sometimes i wish i was there, but , then again sometimes, i wish i wasnt. lol ive got famly in all parts of the world. and when we talk, i keep having to remind myself, to talk in their currency. ie think wiht their money
Well once i get a house sorted and stuff , u should come over here, Just get a flight over and ill put u up .. better than a hotel and a ton cheaper to :thumb:

If I had a 100,000 of anything to blow on toys, I'd forget all this car business and buy a few bikes.
Far more satisfying than a box with wheels. ;)
yup not many cars have the power to weight ratio that bikes have :icon_twisted:
I love this guy, he cracks me up: http://www.riceboypage.com/

i use to love the Skyline but i find impracticle lol cuz i'll never be able to afford one
AE86 is still affordable esp if u can find a granny whose got one and doesn't know what she's got :-p

Pimped out $500 shaZam! boxes with sound systems costing 5 times more than the car with bass so strong the car vibrates from the outside.......bloke with his arm out the window and wearing his cap backwards on his head moving his head to the thumo thump thinking he is the coolest thing since the invention of the ice cube in bourbon.........
THE SMAME OF IT. Ricers need to video tape themselves so they can see how stupid they look.
Thats not what ricers are like here
jay im thinkin, the term ricer, is prolly a less than glamorous term :dunno_white:
