An angel dropped by to help me with my carbs. But after getting everything back together and the bike sounding and starting FANTASTIC! We have a mystery fuel leak where (pardon my highly technical terminology) the two hoses that are VERY close together under the fuel tank where the fuel shut off is. The hoses LOOK secure and the clamps (although a Buddha Loves You) seem secure, but fuel is still leaking from around this area.
My angel, Don, may probably figure this out after tomorrow, he's racing in a mountain bike race tomorrow and was also helping me cut down some trees tonight so we are very tired and I sent him home to rest, but he left all frustrated about the leak and I'm all :dunno_white:
Anybody have any suggestions?

Are the hoses snug around the outlet nipples? It could be that the fuel line is too big.
Are you sure the leak is coming from the hoses? Maybe it's leaking from the seal on the tank mounted petcock.
I had the same leak and had to replace my lines with 1/4 inch tygon hose.It's clear and allows for viewing the fuel for debris.BTW I don't use hose clamps because the thin wall tygon fit's so snug.I believe clamps would cut thru it after a while anyway.
it should be pretty difficult to get your lines onto those nipples. if it isn't, they ID of the fuel line is too big. using hose clamps can make it worse by folding over a little material and causing a bigger leak.
those big ole nipples work great with the right size tubing. the clear looks pimp, and helps you determine if you have a non-air tight problem farther down (air bubbles) and the already mentioned trash viewing.

Yea tygon line, or new gasket around the tank fuel valve ir like gasket maker on the fuel valve, or tighten the fuel valve more (do not tear up the threads though) ...
You get the idea.
BTW I had a 91 tank that I got for cheap in 99 that had a ripple in that area, from when it was smashed into the die and welded ... never would it stop leaking. I had to fab and weld and do stuff wicked there and then I used it for a long time wihtout it leaking.

I'm going to pick up some tygon tubing and a new gasket today.
