Title: Factory Engine Spoiler?
Post by: Jackstand Johnny on June 22, 2008, 12:55:46 PM
My Clymer manual makes reference to one. Does anybody have a picture of one on their bike? Where do I find one?

All fairings in pic are factory items, and for sale.

1995 edition

The OEM fly and chin cowl are rare as moon beams these days. I have an OEM chin but only one of the frame brackets for mounting it.

The brackets are still available if you want to pay US $45 for each bracket.  :cookoo:

Nice purple GS.  :thumb: Besides making some cash and possible hating them, why would you want to part with the OEM items?

I made mine from a late 80's ninja chin pan.A little work with a dremel tool and hand made brackets, all for under 20.00.A picture of it is in the post of my finish bike a month or two back.

I'm changing the color of the bike and won't be using any of the fairing and have no use for them and they would only take up space in my garage being of no value and a dime a dozen.

I wasn't aware of how supposedly rare these items were or how expensive the brackets are, it will certainly help in changing my opinion of what there worth compared to a month or so ago.

The Belly Pan has a crack in it, as well as some scrapes on it, all very fixable with some Fiiberglass and or Bondo prior to repainting. The Headlight fairing has some spider webbing on each of the side bolt holes where it mounts to the headlight bracket, some sanding and a repaint will cure that.

The rear fairings and the rear panel connecting piece are all in fantastic shape, though they wont work with my current build and vision.

I started my Project on a 1996 , loved the bike, hated the rear fairings , it looked Rubbish , hence why i went and got a 2001

I thought the belly Pan looked the same size as the stocker

Tango - this must be a Carolina thing. Cos I also think the rear fairing on an 01+ looks like queen latifah ass on paris hilton.
I also dont like the fact that it will hit the ground if you drop the bike (which is surely IMHO why suzuki went to that design).
Cool.

Hi all,
Actually, Fry and I made a deal for these back in April when he first said he was selling them, but he told me that he hasn't had the time to get a shipping quote on them. I have the emails back and forth to show it.
He and I have spoken several times by phone about them and I was quite surprised to see him offering them up for sale again.
I have called him several times and we talked about them and he has always said he'd get a shipping price and sell them to me.
This, like I said, has been going on since April, when he first offered them up.
I called him again yesterday when I saw this thread and he said he'd take care of it.
So dibs aside, I believe he and I have a deal that is still pending.
I hope he and I get this resolved soon. :)
Best wishes,
Todd

Todd, you lost out.

Seeing what I can get for them I simply cannot abide by my ill educated low ball figure I quoted you "Way Back In April" I was new to the GS market and didn't know any better, and I have no qualms about breaking a verbal agreement, you and your feelings mean nothing to me as harsh as that sounds.

Though I handled this situation poorly your whining isn't warranted and is really putting me off, I could have had you send the money, then never sent the part to you irregardless of threats of prosecution as we both know how affective the law is at catching crimes like this.

Thanks for airing our dirty laundry in public, though one classless move deserves another so Cheer Cheer.

So whoever can send me the readjusted amount discussed in e-mail will get the product first. Yes it is boxed up and waiting to go.

I wasn't whining or airing dirty laundry.
I was just letting folks know that a deal was pending.
From the beginning I have been understanding and accommodating and patient. I know you are busy and I respect that.
You were the one who named your prices because you wanted the cash for the seat.
If you want more for them now, you can let me know what you are thinking in terms of price instead of just offering them to others after you and I had a verbal and written (in e-mails) agreement.
I still would like to do that. Not a problem.
I have stayed in touch with you for months about these and was just surprised to see you offering the parts to others for sale.
No hard feelings at all.
Best wishes,
Todd

You see, this is why captitalism gets a bad reputation.

If I had the means, I would make 1000 OEM style chin pans and offer them for free to GS members on the terms that the taker pays shipping and swears never to sell it without the bike.

Any one caught selling a give-away pan without the bike would automatically and retroactively be banned from GS Twin.  :2guns:  You know, "Pay it Forward" with a big stick thrown in to maintain integrity.

Flood the market, wreck the price structure, put the players out of business.
Now THAT'S capitalism at its finest.

Bottomo line is I wanted and realizied I could get more for the items. A long time had passed since my initial conversations with original buyer. I was not about to contact original buyer and raise the price on him based on this recent thread, that would be even worse, I'd rather just blow off the 1st deal, walk away from it, and sell these pieces.

Never mind.
That's enough arguing about it.

Be very very careful about calling people out and suggesting there not a man.

Look up the name Greg Domey.

And when you address me, get my name right.

Oh it happened to someone else ... not me .. .wowee ... that is a relief ... I am the biggest duck around and I am also the most forgetful ... making me the most likely to experience this ... so I thought.
