ok, didnt seem like a good idea at the time, but got to thinking about it and what the hell did it, i unbolted the taillight on my 89, and flipped it. the mounts are alittle bent so i took out the little support tubes behind the washers, the white doesnt show to top as i thought due to Body work is in way, if doing this mod i recomend being super carful, as stated my mounts were bend alittle. i may try relocating the mounts alittle deeper to move the tail lite into the body work, recesing it. but we shall see, as soon as i can figure out how to get XP to like my 5$ digicam, i will get a photo for you.
did you flip the entire taillight housing or just the lens?
Flipped the whole thing and stuck the studs right back in holes
you have to flip the housing. I'm waiting for my LED's then.....Flip!!! On the 89-2000 bikes it really makes the bike look more modern.
Quote from: toober...really makes the bike look more modern.
I can see why...the angle of the lens is more aggressive. Got to post pics.
i think im gonna try pusing the mounts further back into the bike, the idea is to try and tuck the now upper edge under the bodywork, i think this would add more to sleek look
What is lighting up the license plate now that your tail light is upside-down? The idea seems like it could improve the profile of the bike
During the day, no light needed, at night, the Cops headlights seem to do well. :P :P
Well it will light up the plate...even when upside down...will just be reddish...
Cool.
Srinath.
are there any pics of this mod, I'm thinking of doing it as well, got an 89 model 8)
go ahead and do it, your not cuting anything, pull your seat, look at the 2 nuts holding tail light on, remove them, pull the light out alittle, flip, then put it back in. its 100% reversable, i do have a little amount ofwhite showing at top at edge of bodywork, so i will try black electrical tape, and maybe lateron paint it black. if i can recess the light alittle further then it wont need it.
I'm gonna try it tomorrow, i'll post a pic if it's nice
