Title: Big Shot Bob's Build Log
Post by: Big Shot on June 23, 2008, 01:02:49 PM
I just picked up two bikes with titles from a local guy here in Chicago.  He used to race these things but has since moved on to other stuff.  With the bikes i got a bunch of spare parts.  Some in good condition, and some in bad i'm sure.  But i think i could prolly piece together a third bike too if i wanted.  My immediate goal with this project though is to get two bikes up and running asap.  I want to enjoy this summer!  One is for me, and the other one is for my GF who has a license but never ridden.  Here are a couple of pics i took last night before i unloaded my van...

Looks like you've got a kat f/e on one of those bikes, nice find. Keep us updated with the project.

You're crazy man, it's never gonna work. All those parts are from chinese knock-offs of the gs. I'll give you $20 + shipping for all of them to 35215, IF you throw in a bucket of cold beer.

I'm kidding man, that's a good lot of parts. You'll have a fine machine in no time ! Congrats on the haul and welcome to gstwins ! :)

I want to ask you what you paid but that wouldn't be very polite.

Bucks - You got eyes like Tiger!  Nice spy on that F/E!  It is a Kat.  And I'm going to try and update the log at least once a day.  = Progress!

OhGood - 2 out of 3 ain't bad...  Yes, I'm crazy!  And yes, it's never gonna work!  But no Chinese knock-offs here  :nono:

Jay - Thanks!

Dude...  Or, "The Dude".  Whichever you prefer -  Pics with every update...  I promise!

PJ -  Don't sweat it man, I paid 1k for the van load.  It seemed like a fair price...  *shrugs*

Also i spot to other Front ends , Both with Bigger Master Cylinders , witch would indicate , they are Dual Disced ,  also 2 Exhaust Systems , maybe ones a Slip on ,

OhGood - I forgot something...  Thanks for the welcome!

YamaKow - I definitely plan on sharing the bounty with the forum members at some point.  But ya, i gotta figure out what i need first.  And then i gotta figure out the condition of the parts left over before i let them go.  Everything will be checked against spec and then checked again to ensure the condition is know before any deals take place.  It's just how i am.  I like to sleep EZ at night!  And unfortunately it's gonna take sometime before that happens cause after i get the first two finished I'm pretty much set on building a third.

I'm not sure if it's been done before but i think a forum voted GStwin (dot) com bike would be a cool thing to do.  Everybody would get a say on how it turns out and we could collectively build the bike that some of us would, if only we could.  And i don't know about you, but that 555cc build i've seen roaming around on the forum here looks pretty sweet to me.  That would definitely get my vote!

Jay - Ya, i saw that, but i couldn't give you any points for the score cause Bucks clocked in a little faster.  Hang with me though, I've got such a mixed bag of parts i'm definitely gonna need your help with identifying them all.  Thanks again!

Mdow - Thanks!  I thought so.  But i'm trying to keep my enthusiasm tempered until i find out all of the surprises...  I'm sure there'll be a few

Ben - Grats on your score!
