I've been listening to them since I was 9.......didn't buy any of the albums past 'Ixnay on the Hombre' (didn't really like the poppy BS they put out after that) but I just bought the new album and it's excellent. A smooth blend of old and new.
Anyone thinking about seeing them at the virgin mobile festival in August? I think I'm gonna buy a ticket.
I have enough offspring. No more chitlins for me.
who? what?
Oldtimers...
I used to listen to them when I was younger, I wasn't aware that they released a new album. I'll have to check it out.
a couple of good songs , Pretty fly for a white guy was a amazing song , bout it :thumb:
I saw and met them back in my early band days :icon_mrgreen:
We played a show w/ them in Columbia SC. Some place in a strip mall? Characters I think? Anyway.. We played w/ Offspring and AFI I think all of like 40 people came  That was back in about 97 or so?... Man, they/me are getting old now :icon_twisted: I remember we played some songs with them, sat and drank beer during our sets cause there was hardly anyone there  .. it was a good time.
:thumb:
I grew up on "Smashed." Couple good songs on the later albums, but didn't pay much attention to them after that.

That song is exactly the pop bullshit I was talking about. Listen to 'Jennifer lost the war' or 'Nitro' or anything off the smash album. I'm still tripping out that dexter doesn't have dreads anymore :cookoo: I saw em in Gainesville in 96 or 97, snuck outta the house and me and a couple of my buddies went. They were playing a local bar and there were like 150 people there.
Yea I was a teen when Off Spring came out.I don't remember much about them.
great music.
hmm... I just took a look at my mp3 collection... I've only got ONE song by them "Want You Bad"... I thought I had mch more.
I've got the self titled album, ignition, smash, ixnay on the hombre and now rise and fall rage and grace. I think the only other band I have more music from is RHCP, but to be fair RHCP has been around longer and released more albums.
RHCP???
red hot chili peppers
I can get into some Chilly Peppers.I should buy some of there early stuff.
I don't like much of their most recent album, but everything before that is excellent. Word is that they're taking a break for a year, but Anthony wants to make another album.
Hasn't been long ago he bought a green late 60's Comaro converted to an electric vehicle.
never heard of em :dunno_white:
RHCP or The Offspring?
The Offspring have been referred to as 'Nirvana with less drugs' way back in the day. Same basis for the music, but less shock factor in the lyrics and a heavier instrumental.
ive heard of the chili peckers, but not offspring, and im pretty liberal wiht my music collection, if osmething will hold my attention for more than 20 seconds, ill listen to it O0

I've been listening to a lot of Offspring, Nirvana, OLDDD Greenday, RHCP, and of course Metallica.
Jay, listen to a few off the self-titled album and tell me they sound 'poppy'. The band started out making songs that focused on a serious social commentary and after 'Ixnay' on the Hombre' decided to go a little more 'mainstream' and juvenile. Just to reference, 'Jennifer lost the war today' off the self-titled album is one of the most apparent commentaries on the album about the self-absorption that swept America in the 80's. They lost that feel for several albums and instead focused on making crap like 'hit that'.

Jay, you know the band Sikth? I think they are from out your way... I have been listening to/learning alot of their stuff lately.
Yep , i did mention it on my *what im listening to* section, But i think u missed it lol , they are incredable only 40 miles away from me , and Dan Foord the drummer , is something soo speical ,
Sikth have Broken up for good now , the two singers left and they were going to be Replaced but they have all gone there own Ways
There first album , the Trees are Dead is the most increable album i have ever heard , Death of a Dead day is ok , but not as good at the first
*Terry , Offspring arnt really my thing , but give me a few albums to *ahem Buy nice and Legally :thumb:* , and ill give u a opinion
Honestly, 'Smash' is their best and most widely appealing album. It was a 1994 release and the first record that year from an independent label to make it to the top 5.
Their self-titled album is very interesting and one of my favorites though a bit morbid in it's themes. 'Ignition' was a great album that never really took off that well.
'Ixnay on the Hombre' was pretty good, though my least favorite of the 4 early Offspring albums.
The new album is really good overall, it's refreshing to see them back from the bullshit they put out in the late 90's early 00's.
I'm checking hotel rates for the Virgin Festival in Baltimore as we speak :icon_twisted: I'm gonna get the VIP ticket, you get a shaZam! ton of free booze and better access :thumb:
