Title: Dammit, my turn ( my wrecking story)
Post by: yamahonkawazuki on June 23, 2008, 10:02:51 PM
lol everyone has been goin down recently i figure why the hell not, ill do it next , well i did., i leave my driveway, err turn out of it. around a blind decorative hedge, and wtf, here comes a toyota camry, well about the time i say AWWW f%$k, i throw it down to the right. instead of hitting the car. ( since im not insured yet  :nono:) well i did that, and that weld i installe teh exhaust can held, teh bar ends did their job, only thing i did was chew some rubber off the foot peg, and bend teh brake lever ( front), people in car were like YOU OKAY?!?!, i didnt answer adrenaline is masking pain lol, and im picking up bike, after i right bike, they ask again, i look at tehm and say yeah im fine", then i mount bike and after a few tries she starts. i went down like i said, and as i come off teh bike,  my right leg is partially under it. and my hand impacts teh ground/asphalt somwaht hard , and my knee does as well. so barring any major pain, ill take care of it myself, and deal with some rash and some gnarly scars on my palm, and knee cap :icon_confused:, heh ive picked a damn fine time to run out of pain killers lol. ill see how it feels in the morning. heh ive always told myself, ill didtch the thing before hitting anyone else, and i did, course it was less than 10mph too which helped

Glad you're OK.  It always sucks no matter what the speed.  I'm also glad you didn't damage much on your bike.

My dad (now 69 years old) went down two years ago on his 1980 BMW R100RT.  He took off down his street and realized his kick stand was down (interlock is either defeated or non-existent on that bike).  Anyway, at about 5 mph, he was trying to get the kickstand up around the boxer engine jug sticking out.  He loses balance, overcorrects, and bites the curb with his arm.  Nice rash on his forearm.  The funny part is, he was on his way (2 blocks) to see my sister who was having a test at the hospital.  He went back home and bandaged up and put on a long-sleeved shirt so no one would know.  That night, my mom saw it and just about chewed him a new one.

1 and a half lanes ( small road0 MY DRIVE 1 LANE) no one at fault per se. just a blind corner. no one could see the other, so im not pissed at her, we could not see each other. it was basically both  being in the wrong place at the wrong time. me and the bike coming out the worse for wear. ill deal with the slight damage to myself and the bike. but all wil work out in the end though. no damage to the other car at all. i forcefully dumped the bike before contact would have been made :thumb:

Glad to hear there's not too much damage.

I had an interesting moment today, I was going around a round-a-bout on the inside lane, and as I accelerated out of it the back end got loose and pretty far out from under me. It caught me by surprise, because I've been very cautious my last few rides due to all the upgrades I've done. I was able to keep it under control and regain traction, I think my dirt bike experience helped out there. I'm glad I didn't low side because there was a van right next to me. I'm not sure if it was the tire or something on the road because I didn't execelerate hard at all. I may be in the market for a new rear tire, as this one (I think) had been sitting on my kat rim for a while before I bought it.
