Well, since the repair of the gas tank is coming along nicely, it was time to pull the carbs and have a look. First things first, drill out the plugs covering the mixture screws. I decided to turn them in to see about how many turns in they were, so I could set it right later. They were about 1/4 turn out!! that's ridiculous! Its a 01, is that normal?
If you drill them with right handed bit and made contact with the screw head it will get threaded in especially if its nice and clean ...

Do you mean 1/4 turn
out? I've always seen jetting screws specified as turns out from the seated position. Not sure if yours is a typo or if you are measuring the screw turns from a different reference.

haha, whoops, I meant out... I fixed it... anyways, on one side, I barely nicked the screw with the drill bit, on the other side, I didn't, so i don't think it was a result of that
